Other than Peter Stevens, can anyone recommend a workshop that could undertake either a 103 or 106/7 build on a 2007 EFI Deuce (SERT, SE AC & V&H BR dynotuned)?
For a 103 build (retain OEM cylinders bored out to 103, new cam [Andrews 54H, 26H or other undecided as yet]). For reliability i don't want to go larger than 103 with the OEM Harley cylinders, but retain the OEM heads and have them ported, some type of compression release would need to be drilled into he heads and I think i'd need a new high performance throttle body. Would i need to upgrade anything else (ignition, clutch, etc) to ensure reliability? I think the compression ratio would increase to about 10:1 (from 9.2:1 stock) with that type of Andrews cam. I'm aiming for power between 2000 - 5000 rpms.
For a 106 or 107 build it'd be same as above cam wise, but using something like and S&S or Axtell kit with new cylinders. Going to 107" max i would not need to replace the OEM piston crank or any bearings, which seem to get a bit iffy if you go +110" or if you install a stroker kit.
Noise will be a consideration with retaining the V&H BR but i might look at a VH Pro pipe going forward.
I think the 103 will provide better bang for buck, but i'm not sold. I like the idea of the 106 S&S kit as aside from the extra power, but i think i'd prolly need to add the S&S cylinder heads, and thats starting to get expensive.
Anyone point me towards a workshop in Melbourne that could assit in doing the work AND dyno tuning the finsihed product? And if anyone has an opinion or suggestion as to which way to go and what parts to consider, i'd love to hear it. |

| I built my 07 103 motor on the cheap using SE flat top cast pistons $140 landed in oz then had the cylinder's bored with torque plates to piston specs $240. I fitted Andrews 54h cams with smith bros adjustable push rods cometic gaskets etc so for less than a grand I got a considerable engine upgrade. |

Gents, Been concurrently running the same thread in HD forums USA and both advices, with preliminary pricing from Peter Stevens has me on the path to buying a 106 or 107 kit from the USA (new cylinders, pistons, heads) as its considerably cheaper than boring out cylinders or having heads ported in Oz. I mean AUD$1300 for ported heads?, thats farking mad when i can get matched high performace heads with compression releases shipped for about half that from USA including gaskets etc. Prolly going to settle on the Axtell 107 or S&S 106 kit with new heads. Pay someone to do the install and dynotune. total AUD about $2,500 which by the way is less than the $3,100 i've been quoted just for a 103" bore without heads ported in Oz. Add the Andrws 54H cam for nice torque 2000-5000 rpms and i think i'm no a winner. Should get 90HP and 100TQ with the V&H BR, and prolly 100HP and 115 TQ if i change over to a V&H pro pipe. Happy days. From what i can see, the combo should be smokng fast and nice and reliable... should give a few of those SE Springer 110" a real pair of the brown trousers! skulznflames... yes will watch your build closely. |

I see you changed your rear pulley to a 70 tooth.
Does the 07 Deuce have a 200mm or a 180mm rear. If it has a 180 I can understand easier (1 1/8 inch pulley). If it has a 200 then Im stumped and would love to know how you did it, (3/4 inch pulley) |

If you use the S&S 106 kit why not try the S&S Harley ported heads and maybe there easy start cams in a grind that your after. S&Scycle.com
Good luck |

skulznflames,
It came stock with a 160mm but i changed out the rim to an Arlenn Ness 18 x 5.5 and fitted a 200mm Metzler. The new 70 tooth pulley runs the thinner belt than standard. I also had to use the 2006 lower belt guard as the 2007 would no longer fit. There was a small spacer chromed and used, but i have no idea on dimensions - Andy at Peter Stevens Ringwood supervised the work... he's now in the Melbourne workshop if you want to follow him up - he'll remember the bike, i drove him half mad waiting form parts from Cassons (though i reckon he was already a bit mad to begin with )
I've put 17,000kms on it solo, with a tour pack and with passenger and have not had an issue with clearance... though there is bugger all room under the fender and if/when i want to take the sissy bar off i need my wife's little hand to help me. |

Hey walka, hard words m8. Johnny Hogs and his Son Lacky have a lot of friends at the tracks around Australia. the Screamin Eagle racers up here in Sydney enjoy there company. Shep (RIP) spent a lot of time with them they let him have a ride on there Pro Stock Bike and those bikes cost a lot of $ to run. so i think m8 if you can't say good things about people, say nothing at all. and i hope you come up to Sy's Drag n Brag tell Johnny to his face like a man. i would never put down gradeing coments online about anyone no matter what, as i feel it's spineless. i'm not having a go at you m8 just saying how i feel.
Cheers
