My front wheel while under light braking feels like the rotor is buckled/warped,(which isn't) the hd dealer had some replacement bits to cure this, another lever and another brake mc cap (wtf?) The other mechanic on the day i went back said "that shouldn't make any difference with your problem" . WTF again. My tyre is worn down on one side,it's the original, running 30psi (as per manual) and 11,000k's. Any hints to what I should try? I just replaced the 90/90 tyre with a 100/90 Metzler, no road test done yet, weathers fucked/time, but hope that might be a cure.  I've had the fork tubes replaced under warranty, they were scratched around the seal area on receiving the bike, new ones ordered, they arrived and fucking scratched also, in exactly the same area. As well as paint blistering on the dash panel,my seat padding is rippled,(where my balls sit!) warranty covered, but how fucked for a new bike,Apr '08 model.   Anyone know about replacing chain driven cams with gears only, Heavy Duty mag done a test a while ago,but I lost it. Big mob $$$$$'s or what?

Your not alone with warranty claims

Usually when ur front tyre is worn (tyred ) you will get vigration/wobbling from the fron end. Good way to test is to lightly hold the handlebars while riding at different speeds and check for the handlebar wobble. New tyre or balance usually fixes the problem. If however the prob remains you may want to get the bearings checked on the head stem/frame neck (whatever they call it)

My warranty claims so for on my 08 Fatty are front and rear wheel bearings, front master cylinder twice (leaking) and main shaft seal replacement

Good luck

Motorcycle tyres will wear on one side due to road camber, but not excessively, and as above check your bearings, just because it says to be done in service don`t mean it has been.

The feeling I'm getting is as if I'm pulling the front brake lever on and off,but not as severe.......... and it's not every time the wheel does a complete revolution, more like every third/fourth time.. Road test with this new tyre on should let me know if it was the tyre.. Forgot to mention that when I got it balanced with this new tyre, the guy had to use 8 of those small square lead weights to balance the wheel, looks fucken ugly but had to be done. There wernt any weights on the wheel when purchased? I'll go for a 50k ride now before the next thunderstorm.

Didn't miss the thunderstorm, got drowned!! Bike still exactly the same. Hands off the bars going slow, medium and fast,no vibrations or movements of any sorts.Has to be the disc??? I've jacked it up and spun the wheel, pulled the lever in slowly, spot on,no irregularities. Hmmmmm.. Might replace the frame, tanks, motor and front end, that might work. When I go to Mackay H D to get my replacement seat, I'll get up em. Strange shit happening, weird.

The "expert" at the hd dealer says "the disc is out of round.that'll be replaced under warranty"   My seat fucked up months ago, showed the dealer, "sure, that's a warranty job,we'll replace it for ya!"       2 or more weeks later I ring them, "where's the warranty seat you were getting  for me?" gave him all the info/my name/bike model etc. He didn't know anything about it. I'll get on to it straight away.  I'm over complaining about after sales service. I actually can't wait for the warranty to run out........................................................,so I don't have to go back there again.  Disgusting way to treat a customer.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Anymore "PISSED OFF" smileys available...........

I don't have enough info to make an exact dia of your issues but if your still having problems with your brakes, it could be your pistons so try this, tie your lever overnight as this will allow the brake pistons to be locked out and lubed. I'm only suggesting this as you say it's not on every turn only 3-4th which indicates to me a stuck psiton.

Yeah, this sounds "far fetch" and "WTF is he on drugs" but its common on MOST bikes; like my Triumph 1050 ST, pistons get stuck and most cruzer riders mainly use the rear so the front never gets a good work out

Also check your pads haven't glazed (which you may have already done)

If the above don't work and the rotor looks fine, take your rotor off and place it on a glass table, using a touch check to see if it is true

If your rotor is fucked and they are planning a replacement, add some $$$$$ and get a full floating rotor; much better on "other" bikes so I can't see why it wont work on a H-D

If all of the above fail, trade it in for a Deluxe LOL

And remember, I'm only new to H-D but bikes are bikes LOL

Cheers

Thanks Poddy,
It makes sense in what you say. I'll tell the educated fuckwit to check the pads to see if their not glazed and when he takes off the disc to try the "on the glass test" if he cares at all. I'll tie the lever in overnight and see if that makes any diff. I'll keep you informed, thanks for the tips. Listen to this while your there. Months ago I told the other mechanic there this same prob, and he says he'd order bits in to repair the prob. Fair enough. Weeks later a new brake reservoir cap (wtf) and a new front brake lever,(wtf) "This will fix your prob." Riding home with my NEW FLASH LEVER and NEW FLASH CAP,no change in operation at all. Rang up,told the other guy there what's being going on (should've got names!!) and he said "nah, that wouldn't have fixed ya prob" etc etc. Fucken bloody fucking fuck fuck fuck fuck. CUNTS. I'm better off taking me bike to TAFE and letting the apprentices work it out,I'd get a better job done to.

New warranty seat today and the problem front end turned out to be a warped disc. Rode back home with no probs, feels good. Thank fuck for that. The service bloke showed me with a ruler/straight edge across the disc face, you could see daylight under the ruler!!! Anyway, problem solved..  New HD's these days aren't what they used to be. All the problems I've read and heard AND HAD!!!  is terrible. Fucking disgusting.

                                                                                    Now for the Sporty.

Yeah mate, as the poms say, sorted. I'm kicking meself in the arse for not getting a floating disc while they were at it. I was just glad to get outta there.  I bought a belt adjustment gauge/tool thingy and a Harley towel for the granddaughter to clear up my credit there.  A credit from being charged for warranty parts that just happened to be the wrong bits anyway!!!  I sent the missus to the HD dealer (while she was in Mackay) to pick up a derby cover gasket (which when purchased I was told I didn't need) and the stupid bitch there gave her a master cyl cover and a front brake lever. That incidently was the bits that were going to sort out my front end problem. (I've allready told this story but wtf)  The dealer is too busy flogging bikes to worry about after sales service which is absolutely fucked. The previous owners of the shop mightn't have had as much stock and staff, but they never at all,not once, fucked me about like this shit. And the previous staff knew their shit when it came to Harleys. "Too Many Cooks In The Kitchen". The End.
