Scotty the part number is 62818-06d,  I have gone through the instructions and it doesnt say anything about the tube/wire the gives the fuel level, so i am asuming it is no longer needed. this being so how does the new gauge register how much fuel is in the tank?

thanks for any help you can give

From memory,,,i removed the Tank on the Crossbones to install the flush mount caps,,,not sure why...but i think may be i had to connect into the wiring harness under the tank...just lifting the tank an inch without disconnecting the cross over fuel line would have been suffice,im sure....as i had also fitted wrinkle black covers to the rocker boxes at the same time...

I just completed this upgrade on my FXDF with the tank in place.

All in a fairly easy modification.

If you need any help let me know however I am sure Scotty will be the best point of reference.

thanks scotty, unfortunately Im not infront of my bike either at the moment (its been in the shop for near on 8 weeks for a simple repair job, im never going back there again) ,the last time i popped the stock fuel gauge out I thought there was another wire but i am well known to be wrong, just ask my wife.

thanks for the service manual pages I think i will have to purchase 1 as i want to learn to do more of my own work. on the bike.

all in all it looks a quite simple job, I just didnt wanna cock it up

thanks again
