This is a good quote from the article.........."Bikies are just the selling point, it will be used across the board."

That selling point has been used for the anti-association laws as well.

But back to the use of drones. How will they fly them around the suburbs when light aircraft are filling the sky's more these days? With no pilot on board and the small size making them difficult to see it all sounds a bit risky to me.

It's a huge issue in the USA right now and there are all sorts of Civil Liberties Issues . Several Drone Programs have been canned over there over a number of things .

Cops using them to perve on women topless sunbathing and getting busted doing it was one . An over zealous drone pilot smashed into an electrical transformer blacking out 5000 homes & businesses was apparently another . Them causing near misses with manned aircraft & choppers on many occasions . Malfunctioning and crashing . Bringing down powerlines and a mess of other things . Plus the whole drama of spying on people without probable cause .

Odds are that at some point one of these drones will either kill or injury someone either here or in the US . A 20kg malfunctioning piece of technology falling 200 meters onto your head or into traffic will make one hell of a mess .

It's a line in the sand that should not be crossed . Too much potential for misuse and realistically it destroys our rights to privacy .

Well,  I am in the business of drones, so I am a bit biased, BUT... I will say that I don't know who these organisations talk to, but 50 GRAND!!  Really!!   Someone is making a MOTZA and it's not me!! LOL!!

If anyone has seen the Fox Copter on the footy or the cricket?  One of them will cost you about $10,000 air worthy.   A fixed wing bird with plenty of range will come in just under double that.

That said, for $600 you can get a small copter that will carry full HD cams, and be completely autonomous.  It will fly itself!!

I started playing with UAVs about 6 years ago, and since then the industry has boomed.  They are hear to stay.

I just hate all the dooms day rhetoric claiming that there will be UAVs outside your window watching you shower.  Really??  They are actually not that quiet, and it would be easier to sit across the street with a handy cam!

Anyways... You will see more and more of these on the news I guess.

I saw a radio controlled helicopter with a HD camera slung underneath for sale at my local shopping centre. Cost...$150.00.
At that price they'll be everywhere. Granted the cops will use something more sophisticated.

I think it's time people started making and selling anti-drone attack drones :)

Man, that is fricken awesome. Just need it to be a lot quieter, and it would be a great piece of technology to be used in Afghanistan. We'd have a lot less deaths and casualties.

Over 350 of these were sold to companies in NSW alone last year for filming private property and private activities
