    Guys,
Just bringing this thread back up. Did my homework and the shopping list for the required parts. Went to £€¥ (an official garage) to get a quote / estimate for the time required to install the springs and tubes. Ok, additional to that I want to swap the bar and install the XR caliper as well but this part should be relatively straight ahead, right. Total estimate was 5-6 hours?! Is that more or less correct? Seems a lot of hours to me... and as a consequence a lot of $$$
Maybe somebody can help me to find a good garage in the Melbourne area.
    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi T1,
Good to hear from you. Re the bars. Dead simple drag bar wired externally. Will get full length braided lines for the XR calliper anyway. So that should make things even easier as I don't need to reconnect to the stock 'pipe' connection.
Installing the oldman front end conversion is something I can't estimate at all how much time it needs to dismantle the fork. Any rough guess?
Would be great to bypass the stealer and donate my money to your workshop ;)
Btw how did the ricor intimitators work out in the end? Read about your planned purchase but never saw a review from you... Maybe missed it somewhere in the forum...

Viob, pm when you are ready and i'll help you out.

With the intimitators so far so good, they seem to be fantastic but i havnt had a chance to ride much so i really can't give an opinion on them but so far so good. Changing the springs alone made a massive difference and these have just made it all the more smoother...i'll have a better idea on them in 2 weeks.

    Hi Scouser,
That's good to hear. If you have a sec maybe you could give me some input on the braided line question I posted in the other thread...
    Cheers,
    Peter

Use a piece of string to check the length.

Animall, I have a set at home, I will measure them for you tonight.

Really keen on doing this but not so much at taking the forks apart, if anyone in the Perth area is willing to lend a hand and a lot of knowledge I would be most appreciative :) And I'll bring the beer!

    Hi folks,

Parts finally arrived with Deus Camperdown, booked in 7th April. Look forward ti giving you all a run down once the Old-Man conversion is sorted. Thanks Scouscer for the job-time estimate for the front forks and calipers. My imprrssion is that the Deus boys are on the level and honest, but fantatstic to have a workshop time estimate for the work.

What is better, oldman upgrade or install progressive monoshocks in my 48 front end?

I was dead set on the oldman upgrade but now I'm leaning towards the monoshocks

Only issue i have with most aftermarket suspension is its hard to order a spring for your weight. Ask yourself this, how many mechanics and parts peddlers ask you how much you're weight when wearing your riding gear? Not many at all.  In my book near enough isnt anywhere near enough. Its either right or wrong.

Have you checked the oil and forks in general, years ago I bought a second hand R80 beemer that rode rough but I assumed it was the way it rode.

Did a fork service and found the previous owner had used way too much oil and one of the springs was damaged
