"HOW-TO" Servicing in Perth WA : watch and learn

Been a long time coming folks, but all my mates have been on at me for years to do this !

Have your Harley serviced here in Perth and WATCH and LEARN how it's done.

For YEARS I have done all of my mates bikes ( LOTS !) and for many dudes by word of mouth .

(They call them "HOW TO" mechanics stateside. )

17 years of Harley experience and 15 years of automotive trade prior to that

I will service your bike while you watch and learn, and some dudes then do it themselves once they've got the "confidence".

Many guys come back again as they KNOW the job was done well the last time.

"3-hole" Oil changing , fitting slip-on mufflers etc , all Synthetic oils and quality or genuine filters used.

I can also help with TTS tuning ,( probably have the most experience with this in Perth at the moment !)

This is in the WA section as I can hardly help someone in Brizzy FFsake !

Shouldn't think the ADMIN would have any problems with this post ?

    PM for contact details

PS Please don't turn this into a " Fak do it yerself' " windup, some guys ( and girls EDIT!) appreciate the "learning" very much !!

I just today serviced AND TTS tuned a 2006 Dyna Streetbob owned by a girl of my aquaintance.

Removed her Power Commander ( been on since 2006 apparently !)

Bike runs way better , (Way) less popping on decel with a much smoother pull thru' the gears.

AND the ( not so ) young lady will be able to do it herself next time if she digs up the tools

I always do my own 1st oil change service.

(Well before 1600 K's as well I may add !)

I've never had any warranty troubles, but I've never needed much warranty work done over the years .

Ryno had a 3 hole oil change done , with a new genuine HD black oil filter . 2007 Streetbob

Mobil 1 V-Twin in engine and primary , and Amsoil gear oil in the gearbox . 5 quarts of oil in total

3 new sump plug O-rings required as well, you don't always need to replace them, just yer luck

Took a coupla hours , with everything being explained on the way. Correct torque procedures etc etc..

All up cost to Ryno $180

TTS Advice given as well at the same time.

Waiting for the followup response, hope it's all going well ( It always does !!)

Hey mate, sorry its taken me a while to get back on here and rave about the work done! I've been too busy riding!! haha

To all the blokes out there thinking about giving this a go, stop thinking about it and go do it. It was great to learn more about my bike, little things that you'd never hear from the dealers or other servicers. There was alot of noticable difference on the ride home, you could hear the difference as soon as I started it up. TTS advice was spot on and helped me get my bike tuned to (as close as possible) perfection. and after all that, the price for what you get is unbeatable.

Cheers Retro, I hope things brings you alot more people keen to learn from someone who is genuine and definitely worth listening to.

    Hey Retroman,

I sent you a pm back in June but you never answered.

I am just about due for a service on my Sporty and am real keen to learn how to do it myself. Where are you located and when is good?

    Cheers,

    Norm

Norm , I have "done" Sportys before now, but I'm more of a big twin expert personally.

You would need to bring your original owners manual for all the torque settings etc.

I can do it for you no worries , I'm in Woodvale in the northern suburbs

    PM me for contact details

I've found the PM system on the site not to be 100% at times , sorry if I appeared "rude" . Not the case !

Retro took me through a complete service on my Sporty this arvo, I can't recommend this enough if you have never done it before and/or would like to know how to do it.

All I had to pay was his cost price for the fluids which was $110, not bad when the last service I had cost $180.

Thanks mate, I reckon I can do it myself now and I might even have a go at changing out the brake fluid next...

No problem mate. Glad to help and expand my own knowledge base at the same time !

Sportsters are not my area of expertise per se, but all went well.

Mobil 1 V-Twin full synthetic in " both holes " , 1 quart in the primary/clutch/gearbox and 3 quarts in the engine oil tank.

Again glad to be of service
