Given the time, effort and money spent on some of these glides to improve comfort, travelling, music etc would some of you guys have just bought an ultra with all the bells and whistles in hindsight? The ultras could be stripped down easy enough if necessary.

thanks Tim, is there a lot of difference between the 2012 model and the 2014. I have read everything I can and it seems like only subtle changes except for the much larger front forks. The reason I ask is that there is a 2012 for sale with slip ons, filter and tuner, plus quite a few nice cosmetic upgrades. It is about $4k cheaper and only has about 11000k's and the 14 demo has 7330k's. The demo is totally stock so at the very least will need slip ons to start with. Just waiting to hear back from the shop about change over figure with the Duke. If no good I will have to wait until the Ducati shop sells my Diavel

Steve L. It doesn't really matter if you go newer or older, You will be happy with either as long as you get a good one for the right price.
What it doesn't have on it, you will get and what you don't need on it, you will take off or change. As you probably know, when you think your finished, your about half way through!
I find my 012 Ultra more that adequate in every aspect. Turns into a streetglide when i want, heaps of power when i want it (stage IV). Even my (crap, you said it PB) air shocks are still good and give a great ride.
Trust me, you will be happy.

Just got a recall notice . #0157 - brake line under the tank needs to be checked . In some cases tank can rub on the brake line .

My opinion for what its worth, my 2014 SG is a good bit of gear, 14k on it now. I gotta say it has the worst suspension of any bike i've ever owned.

Yep me too, 13" will be going on mine very shortly.

what are the stock ones and what difference do you think the 13" ones will make. I am going to pick up my bike next week, but during the test ride I did think the rear was a little harsh and the front a bit soft.

are the 13s genuine or are aftermarket

Stock shock length for Street Glide is 12" . Ultra and Ultra Limited stock shock length 13" .

I am after more travel in shock for our world class roads ...........

I am looking at aftermarket shocks , as the HD Premiums are maybe not so ...... I,ve given them 12,000km to see if it,s me or the shocks . Afraid it,s the shocks . And yes , I have adjusted them , but feel the travel of the 12" shocks suit US concrete freeways very well .

Just installed 10" curved dark tint Freedom Shields screen . Quick test ride has wind deflected a lot higher than the 7" one I had .Big test will be next Sat going to Lascelles . Great quality screen .
