Dunno if everyone has already seen this, but its a pretty comprehensive review: https://www.facebook.com/ninetynineco/posts/1460544737547843
I actually really like it, if it sounded better i'd probably consider it for commuting...
If every drop of petrol in the world was gone, i would walk!
For some reason Paulybronco your comment made me think of Mad Max 1.
Anyone remember when the Toecutter drops it under the tanker truck in the end? He could've been on a Livewire!!!!!
HaHa same vintage different pay scale!
Yes as much as i resist it, it is the way of the future.
+1, but not too far, I'm old & all fucked up from ridin' one of them petrol powered things
Back in the 70's I was the chairman of the Nth Qld Electric Vehicle assoc. It was part of my job as the NQ manager of a national battery company sponsoring the development of electric vehicles. The technology has rocketed ahead over the past 40 years and for commuting they are brilliant, however on longer trips the capacity range is big issue. The cars have back up motors to power the battery. If they develop a small in built petrol powered generator as part of the bike package it may work, but the added weight and cost makes it unfeasible. The cost of running a bike is so low it won't happen for many years on touring models. It's just a great gimmick at this stage that we pay for through the inflated prices of new HD's. For local commercial delivery vehicles and stop start uses that cover little distance they are great.
I'll be getting one when there released in Aus
As a city commuter It would almost be perfect, Even if you could recharge whilst at work for better range. But until you can pull up at a country servo and swap out batteries quickly they'll only be commuters. Which is good, Less petrol the city folk use the more petrol for the V-twins.
They haven't said if they're making them or not though yet, I'm figuring they will 100% so the cost will determine how they sell and harley will still come up with a catalogue of aftermarket parts to customize it no doubt, Stage 6 big amp kits and the like. lol.
I'd buy it as a commute...
A very good review...
It looks like there will be a copple of electric bikes on the market by the end of the year.
