My daughter in Perth does not yet have her full licence and is recently back from overseas with her husband. Before they left a year back she sold her Dragstar and is now looking for another LAMS bike. What is the experience with the 500?

advise her to get another v-star
far better looking bike than the "street" and a true cruiser, and a good LAMS
my opinion only, and may be subject to differences of coarse

Thanks for your input, mate. She reckons the Dragstar was a bit heavy so I advised her to have a look at a 535 Virago.

When I was on my lams my first bike was a Honda vtr250 and then a cbrr250

Once I realised I wanted out of sport bikes and wanted to start enjoying the ride and cruise

I test rode quite a few learner bikes, vstar, vaigro and Honda shadow 400

I ended up with the Honda shadow 400

I wish the street was around 10 year ago I woulda easily got one on my lams. Anyone can ride one easy and u can even customize them!

the only attraction to the street would be the badge, boosting some wanna-be ego, nothing like a cruiser, far better lams bikes out there than that shitbox

Postie bike. Save her cash for a real bike when she's off restrictions. And they usually resell well.

Haw.....she might be small but I don't think I'll be telling her that. Ironically her husband has a postie bike as well as a rice rocket but she won't get on it.

My wife got the 500 as well and happy with it now she has done a few rides.
She looked at all the bigger LAMS bikes and for her it was lighter / better balanced and best seating position than the others.
She wanted a cruiser and loves her friends V Star but wasn't comfortable with the forward controls and too heavy for her.  
 

Jo got one a few weeks ago, i had to ride it home for her as she got it before her learners and i wasnt looking forward to the trip at

all, as soon as i got on the bike i realised how light and easy it was to get in and around the busy Saturday morning city traffic.

So off through the city and onto the Tulla Fwy i go, it zipped along fine in the traffic as long as the revs where up and i was in the

correct gear, sitting on 105 - 110kmh had me looking for 6th but i was already in it (no gear indicator on these) anyway by the time

i got home (20 kms) i was ready for more but Jo put her foot down and said put it in the shed and get your own bike out before you

fuck mine. For what these bikes are intended (learners) they will more than do the job but to be truthful i cannot see $11,000 in these

bikes but i also cannot see $51,000 in the CVO, in saying all of that Jo absolutly loves the bike and reckons its light and low enough

for her both feet to touch the ground. ( she has short legs) I also recommend getting the engine gaurd fitted as we did, Jo dropped

the bike at low speed whilst turning too tight in the court and ended up underneath the bike, lucky for the gaurd, one thing she doesnt

like is they dont have a fuel gauge.

Good to see the girls have got their safety gear on.

Both wear a thong, can't see an issue there GT.

FWIW I've got the street 500 for my first bike and I love it.

However it is very basic with some shonky stuff (shit clutch lever, shocking rear brake, dodgy fuel light & fuel pump setup - good luck on a hill start at less than half tank...)

My mate got a Kwaka Vulcan 650s which is a really nice LAMS bike, but for the boffins it doesn't have the badge they want.
