  Massive mistake 2 days ago seen him loose 50 minutes to the leader before winning yesterday's stage. Last night's stage was cancelled for bikes/quads, so it is going to be difficult for Toby to win this years event. Currently sitting 3rd on the leaderboard overall.

  reading between the lines, no doubt he is a talented rider, but his main shortcoming seems to be navigation?

  Still don't know how they ride in those conditions at that speed and still read directions off the screen.

        I see its been mentioned quite a few times is that following the tracks of someone else is done quite a bit.

  Lets not forget that the injury that kept Toby out of the 17 Dakar has kept him off the bike for a majority of the year and has had a very limited prep for this years race. 
  

  To finish Dakar is an achievement in itself, so to be on the podium with the limited prep is a huge deal.

  Toby went up and back with 6 seconds difference in the time 

  With a speed average 115.1 KPH When the field average was 67 KPH over a 4hr race 

  Just to finish fine in the time allowed is off hi respect

  Surprised this thread hasn't sprung to life earlier ? Despite having a bunged up wrist Toby's having a crack again Dakar 2019 and doing well. SBS have a nightly coverage.
