We are departing Adelaide on the Saturday the 18th June, and [lan on being back in Adelaide on the 17th July 2016.

The onlt date that is firm, is that we must be in Darwin on the 1st of July (Territory Day) Cracker Night.

If anyone wants to join in for the whole, or part. of the trip, feel free to get in touch.

Any sugestions on good places to stay, feel free to share.

Hi Lofty, I done a Lap of the Map in July / Aug 2015. Broome was nothing to write home about ( apart from Cable beach for sunset). Just curious, you should have more than enough time going down West Coast as its a great ride, Kalbarri and the Cliffs are unreal. Onslow is good. We missed the Pinnacles as my bro inlaw had his Clutch Slave cylinder shit itself about 200km north of Carnarvon..
Plus across the bottom is nice, even if it did rain Torrential from Perth to Melbourne. Anyway, have a Safe trip.

If it is ok Lofty I'd like to follow this thread.

Planning to do western vic - Darwin - cairns - Broome - west coast WA- Perth - back to Vic. Late April to end of August . I'm on a 15 Street Glide Special ( black) wife on her 2015 triumph Bonnie. We did up the centre to Darwin in 09 , (me on 06 wideglide , she on 08 Bonnie . Both retired now , have the time and plenty of rellies to visit. Keen to hear on issues like petrol in particular access to premium on west coast .

Yeh Lofty, well I was towing a trailer, and Yes I carried an extra 2 x 5 lt containers of fuel. I had very srong Head / side winds all way from Townsville, all way around Oz except from Broome south to Sand fire RoadHouse just over 300km. and I made it. I normally can get 400km from a tank sitting on 100 / 110kmh, but rest of the way I like from Townsville all way around was 200km average per tank. I know quite a few guys that have done it, no trailer. and none have carried any extra fuel.
So yeh maybe if you want to, carry 5 ltr between you both, But I reckon don't need it, if No trailer.

From Perth i went to Bussleton Jetty, Augusta ( great Pub) they also have a motel across road $90. night. Then coast road to Albany, Esperance, Then across the Nullabour stopped night at Madurah Pass, Ceduna, then went down to Port Lincoln, Then around through the Barossa Valley, to Motor Museum ( forget town but nice) then to Kingston SE, then GOR to Melbourne,

Most places called their 95 Premium. There is an additive in fuel around the outback areas, It dont look or smell like petrol from Suburbia, but still done the job. Stayed at Three ways Road house in tent but they do have cabins, Then Mataranka, Tent. Then in Darwin we stayed at Hidden Valley Tourist park, about 2km from HD dealer. and 20min ride into Darwin to see Harbour & Mindil Markets. Then come back down to Katherine to the Big 4 c/park, has own onsite restaurant, Then Lake Argyle is a Must. about 30km inland off h/way. Then fuel at Kununurra, Then  Fitzroy Crossing Resort on right as you come into town before crossing bridge. $15. unpwered site.also fuel up in FC.  Then next stop Broome.

Thanks Lofty. I am sure we will cross paths at some time in the trip. Was in Darwin for Territory Day a few years ago. Went to Lee Point with rellies.  Eskies full of fireworks. Unbelievable shooting out and  across the water.   Safe travels !

    Hello Lofty,

in regards to fireworks,do you know they are only sold on territory day now? so you might want to get in a day or so earlier to get ready for the firework stampede.
