Hi all, anyone from the Busselton area? There’s a bike I’m interested in potentially buying and as I’m on east coast I’d be buying sight unseen so keen to have somebody cast an eye over it if possible. Msg me if you’re in the area or know somebody that can do me a favour.

    Thanks.

@fatbat , classic FXR which has been well cared for by a motivated seller. With a break in the winter weather nice riding in the south-west. Glad to help out with your request.

Thanks again Keith….you’re a legend of a bloke.

There are still some really positive things and social connections that come of this forum.

I’ve only met Keith once (or twice?) but he was kind enough to go on a 2+ hour ride to check this little beauty out for me. And then have a good chat about the bike and lots of other cool things. I hope to have the bike in my shed soon

It wasn’t that long ago that steelo also did me a good favour by buying, packaging and sending me a unique part in SA I found online.

I hope I can pay it forward.

Thanks again Keith also sticky buns steelo!

What used to be my local indie Harley shop had a shop ride on Saturday. I only found out it was on at 11pm Friday so not much time for preparation. So what to take. I was keen to take the Sportster but after it's 4 year lie down the tyres are 7 years old, the motors pretty rattly, with a slightly slipping clutch when I nail it. Don't have full confidence in it yet. So, one of the Victories it was. Now this shop turns out some pretty high powered builds. The don't build bikes for fat bastards to take to dyno shoot outs, they build bikes for mountain roads  typically Dynas with big motors,  upgraded suspension and brakes. I knew the ride would be brisk.
About 80 bikes turned up, and we were off. 3 hours, 160 kms of mountain road fun. Spent most of that time in 2nd and 3rd gears, occasionally 4th and rarely 5th and 6th. Tunnel Ridge Rd, Old Gympie Rd, Peachester Range, Bellthorpe range, roads I've been riding for 40 years. Close fast riding, always in a law abiding and safety conscious manner of course. If I didnt have a 1.5 inches longer than stock Progressive shock on the back I wouldn't have been in the hunt at all. . On the rare straight bits, entertainment was provided by blokes doing 100 kph rolling burnouts, and 500m monos. We ran through Obi Obi and up the one way road at the top end of the valley. I lived there for 40 years, and for most of that rode to work every day up this mountain. Norton, Katana, Sportster then since 2014 a Vic bagger. This is the road that PB and I played on a few times. I passed 5 bikes in the fast group up this 2 kilometres. Bounced it off the rev limiter in 2nd and 3rd, might have annoyed a couple of blokes there. Lunch at Rick's garage at Palmwoods. A fine morning, haven't ridden like that with like minded company for many years. Haven't pushed this bike that hard in the 18 months I've owned it either.
Worked on the Sporty the next day, adjusted the pushrods which quietened the clatter a fair bit, got some 98 octane into it, which cut the residual pinging. I've got 2 sets of alternate springs for the auto advance, might put the stronger ones in to make the advance rurve less aggressive. Took it for a 100 km test ride, running nicely, but will need to do something for the clutch slip. Probably substitute extra plates for the centre 2 with the wave spring, I have a spare set of Barnett plates. I'll slowly get it ready for the next shop ride.
