Just ordered a new Softail Slim S (Army)

The plan is 12" Mini Apes in black, black light bar, Daymaker LED headlight, Vintage white grips, white wall tyres, black solo rack, Vintage black crash bars, with canvas spats, Vintage brown mustang solo seat, Viking saddlebags in vintage brown, black ceramiced tapered turbo mufflers.

I have always wanted a modern version of a 42 WLA, and after I was given a genuine US Army gun holster for a Tommy gun, I have always itched to do this build.

Anyway, all the parts are on the way, and the build will commence next week.

Nearly forgot, 117 kit as well lol

Great looking bike.  You can still get knock offs of the WLA toolbox too:

Gotta say a mate had a U model when i was slimmer and youger and he could walk into this old shop in a laneway in Redfern Sydney and buy NOS spares off the shelf from the old guy there. Dunno if the shop is still there, but if it is i bet he's got a genuine NOS one.

He was getting on when i was twenty and i'm in my fifties now. Damn shame that it couldn't be kept as it was. Like nothing you ever seen before and nothing you'll ever see again outside of the States, or maybe rural Qld. :)

I got mine from the dealer when I bought the bike. Although Harley does sell a black one, at the time they couldn't get it in black so he got a chrome and powder coated it for me at no cost.

It does look good on the bike, but for it to be practical you really need the insert to protect it from getting banged up.

Mustang Day Tripper seat in vintage brown still to come, as matching vintage brown satchel type saddlebags. Canvas spats for the crash bars, as well as canvas lowers for the windshield.

Then fit up the Tommy Gun Holster, change some of the chrome bols and nuts to brass, and see where I go to from there.

Modern version of this classic will do for me.

Seat has arrived and fitted up. Mustang day tripper solo seat in vintage brown. I think it matches the theme of the bike quite well. A vintage tool kit and a swing arm bag in vintage brown as well. Canvas covers for the crash bars, and the windscreen is getting canvas on the lower section of it as well.

La Rosa Design Vintage Brown Swing Arm bag arrived, not a perfect color match to the seat, but looks right for the theme I am going with anyway.

These bags are solid mounted to the swing arm, not strap mounted.

One of the blokes in the club from Melbourne is running M87 Ammo tins on the back in place of bags.  Like these
