Issues With Clutch Adjustment

    Hey Guys,
Hoping someone can offer up some assistance with a clutch issue. I just replaced the clutch cable, the old one had the outer sleeve shrinking away from the end of the cable up at the bars. I figured that that wasn't going to get any better.
Bought a replacement from HD Dev in Melb. I noticed quite some difference in cable diam plus the fittings appeared more robust.
So I r & r the cable with nil issues however when it came to doing an adjustment at the clutch release lever their was no way I could get the gap at 20mm, which is the recommended gap out of my Clymer manual. I released the clutch push rod and then attempted to do the gap mentioned above but the best I could do was about 8mm or so.
Bike is still on the c/stand, haven't ridden it yet.
The old girl would usually 'walk/creep' in first gear but only when it was cold. It's done that since I've owned it. I never saw it as an issue.
I have a 5 bolt clutch hub put on by the PO.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your response. Looks like I'm getting a Ram Jet. Install seems doable even for me.
Re new clutch cable length: I actually bought a stock length one, however I have 3" risers which have resulted in the cable being just long enough.
I'm thinking maybe I should of got one about 2' longer.

    Cheers
