After looking for a while finally found an FXR that was in good nick and I think reasonably priced.
52,000 Klm's which is not too bad for a 25 year old bike and looks to be in pretty good condition although only been for a couple of short rides so far.
In for Blue Slip and Rego Friday.

Also have a 2003 Sportster 1200s but it needs a bit of work as looking and running a little tired.

Love it! Looks the goods.  52000kms is bugger all if you listen to the Americans waffle about the amount of 'miles' they put on their bikes.
I got mine with 62000kms on the odometer for 12k. Treat her right and it'll run till I die, not her!!!

    Congrats!

    Hi Mate,
Paid $8500 for it and didn't spend a cracker other than Rego so far.
Done 52,000 Klm's but only had Two owners before me and the last guy had it since 1999.
It will need a new belt soon as I had a rock i this one although I have removed it there is a bit of a hole.

Like the stock pipes and mids and thinking of going back that way, maybe.

Been out a few times on her now and really like the way she rides, less power than my lowrider but everything is usable and easy.
Very light compared to the Lowrider as well.

    Don't know much about Evos.
Seems like they are getting a pretty good wrap here. Reliability wise.
What sort of ignition do they have?, points? or electronic?
Any of the models come out with a kickstarter?
Been kinda interested in a reasonably low mileage 1988 Tourer/bagger but it is too far away to have a look at it.

I have done a few thousand Klm's on it now and havn't even ridden the 06 Lowrider since I picked up the FXR.
Love it but can feel the Mrs on the back compared to the Lowrider but that is to be expected as the Lowie has 103 Cu In, S&S Cams and Supertrapp 2 into 1.

Maybe its just new girl on the block syndrome but the FXR is ride of choice at the moment.

Well the absolute opposite to my usual route I am looking at taking the FXR as close as practical to stock,
Have most bits I need just a couple of heat shields short and the front screen that this would have had as it was a FXRS/Con.
The bars will probably take a bit of getting used to but will be a bit narrower than the Fatboy style bars on it now so filtering should get a bit easier.
    Still enjoying the ride.

It looks like its in awesome condition.

I've got an FXR too, but its a mutt with bits from various years.

If you have a look at the first pic, the FXR forwards are terrible as far as I am concerned, The brake pedal sits so high that I have to lift my foot of the footpegs to brake and it felt strange and a bit unco especially in traffic.
Well after a ride on Sunday and some Coopers Green de-procrastination fluid I decided to have a go at fixing the problem.

So here goes what I ended up with after a couple of hours measuring, hitting with a hammer, swearing and then hitting with a bigger hammer.
Decided to cold bend it as I didn't want to heat it up too much and after a few beers really didn't want to play with the oxy.

And yes that spot on top of the bend on the brake lever is my blood.

    Thanks Kiwi,
Hopefully not an issue as the brake pedal returns to the same spot as I only "Coerced" the pedal above where it returned back near the pedal.
You have got me thinking about it though so you can guess what the first think I will check when I get home tonight is, well at least the second after a coopers.
