Gidday Folks ... looking for opinions in regards to the way i present my bike for sale ... yes i know i am leaving myself open to the occassional cheeky comment but hey you take the bad with the good in life .

So i am considering buying one of the new Road King Specials but alas i have to sell one of my other pride and joys ... pretty hard to justify even to myself that owning 3 Harleys is a normal thing to do for a working class guy ... my choices are my 99 Custom Chopped / Bobber ... or my 08 Fsxtc ... haven`t totally made up my mind yet but leaning towards letting go of the 08 Softail as i think it may appeal to a wider selection of people ... both of these bikes have had a absolute bucket load of momey thrown at them over the last 4 to 5 years and when i finnaly choose which way to go i shall go into finer detail of what has been spent on the beast i end up putting up for sale .

The opinion i am asking you good people to offer is with my 08 Softy should i sell it with the original Anniversery paint work and wheels and so on or leave it with the Black paint work and Spoke wheels ... hopefully the 2 pics i choose will give you good folk some idea of my confusion .

The Middle Pic is my Chopped / Bobber just in case the majority think that is the one that will sell easier .

Crikey.. What a terrible decision to have to make.
The bike looks great in both lots of livery. Depends whether you need to keep one set of tins
You could make a fantastic original add
    Offer prospective buyer
One set (of their choice fitted) with the other tins as spares.
    Or one or the other
    Good luck

Yeah Steelo , thats part of the decision ... which ever way i go my thoughts were to sell the bike and all the spares as there is not much point on hanging onto them .

With both bikes i have all the original tins , pipes , wheels , motor parts and so on ... what threw a spanner into the works was i went to a dealer just to inquire what type of money i would get for a trade in and of course he offered me a ridicolous low amount of money but when i asked him which way to go he susgessted to sell it with the Black Tins as the 105 Anniversery Colour was not one of the more popular ones and try and sell all the spares seperatly and try and recoup some money that way .

Hence the inquirey to the good folk on this site to see if he was right or not .

Man, That softy looks great in black with the spoke wheels. That's how I'd be selling it. What a hard decision you have.

Tough decision. What I liked is that you showed us 3 designs for one bike. All great and all for sale in one package. I'd advertise it that way.
All the best with the sale.

Softy with black tins on would surely appeal to a broader range of buyers.
I like the bike with the springer front end but I reckon it won't appeal to as many

Good luck with your decision and sale/s

Thanks guys , appreciate the feedback ... As I suspected the Black Paint job version of the Twin Cam seems to be a clear favorite ... She's in getting a new rear tyre and a tweak to a bit of an annoying decel pop ... Will see if I can fight off the allure of the new Road King for a little bit longer ... I am going to take a massive loss on the Twin Cam no matter when I sell so maybe the Old girl can win me over again and fight off the urges to trade up for now ... Will be interesting to see how long I can resist my compulsive nature , Lol ... Pic below is of my Springer before I had her torn apart and turned into the Bobber in above post ... Still have all of those Factory Tins , Wheels , pipes and so on as well to let go of one of these days ... Is there a cure for Hording , Lol ..

Mate you gotta keep the evo springer for sure. I'm with Fatbat, the black softy with the anniversary tins as a buyer option would get the most hits. Then onto that RK Special! What colour you liking on the King?

Gotta ask what handlebars have you used on the Fsxtc?
They're pretty much the style I've been looking for. Ta.

Poverty , I think that is very achievable , Lol ...
Jayman if I end up with a Road King Special I think most likely the Olive Green ... I like the Gloss Black but both my current Harleys are Black so maybe a change .
Fey the bars on the Twin Cam are from Gworks out of Victoria , Gleelong I think from memory ... For me they are just right ergonomically , hope that's the right word ... They are unbelievably comfortable ... But it was a gamble as there is no adjustments in the risers ... And they are not cheap , $ 550 bucks ... Burleigh do a similar bar at a similar cost but I preferred the smooth clean bends of the G works bars .

A tough position to be in no doubt TJU.  Can tell how much money you've put into those bikes too.  Have you thought about putting on a dress and wig (apparently it's quite the rage in the US) and hitting up the backstreets of Logan??? Then you could keep your bikes AND have the new RoadKing!!
Good luck TJU!!  Let us know how it all goes man!

Well I don't mind the 105th Anniversary colours ( sorry 'colors' haha!)

Had one myself late 2007 , first one in Perth, 2008 FXSTC in "Duracell" paint scheme.

AT THE TIME here in Perth WA they were "desirable" but the used HD market here in WA has since gone to shit , probably forever !

Colour is such an eye of the beholder thing , but usually "stock" bikes do better and appeal to a wider range of buyers.

That's my experience over the years anyways

Point of interest , more of those "Duracell" Softail Customs came to Perth as used grey imports than Frasers ever sold new !

The 105 anniverary will appeal to the buyers most, most buyers go for original, original bikes eventually hold/increase in value,

The problem with a customized bike is that generally you are the only person who likes it, therefore limiting it's saleability, sure people will say it looks great to your face to make you feel good, but in reality they walk back to look at their own bike thinking " my bike is the best looking bike here ",

Thanks guys for all the feedback ... Not sure about the dress and wig comment from up above , Lol .

Definitely know what you mean Kiwi Dave about never getting back what you put into a Harley money wise ... I have over 50,000 sunk into EACH of my bikes ... Yep over 100,000 buck's sitting in my shed ... Now where is that Psychiatric Ward .

Of course I realize I will never get any where near that for them ... But with all the work done on both plus the mountain of spares to go with each one I was hoping for something half respectable  ... I will see in a few weeks when I test the waters if I put either up for sale .

Retro and Liberator ... I was originally thinking the same as you that the Original tins would have been the way to go but it seems the General consensus is to sell the 105 anniversary one with the Black tins ... I will be offering everything thing as part of the deal to any prospective buyers if I end up selling her ... So we shall see .

When I decide to sell I Will list them here first and gauge the reaction ... Be kind now , Lol .

    Cheers all .

I sold my own 2008 Anniversary FXSTC nearly 5 years ago now , and got $20K for it. Listed for 3 months , kept getting offered $20k , eventually took it

One owner , ( me !), Australian bike from new , stock bar K&N air, Khromewerks slip on mufflers and HD Speedo with revcounter. Bike looked 100% stock OEM.

The used HD market across Australia was POLLUTED with recent grey imports , some well lovely , some pure dogs of things.

Set the used price at the time tho' for sure !

Here in Perth today , that bike would be $13k absolute max.  (probably less !)

Shit , I still have brand new bike TAKE-OFF  front and rear guards ( sorry 'Fenders") for that bike , only useful for that exact colour scheme.

The other "new" one that Frasers sold in 2007 , exact same as mine , was bingled and cosmetically "written off" by his Insurance co , rebuilt in black ( like all of them haha)
