Yes the road rage pipe is loud. But you probably have more options with baffle and packing than the big radius 2-2 pipes.
How quiet do you want it? Not everyone's cup of tea for looks but the supermeg pipe is a good performer and you can adjust the sound/back-pressure to where you want it

I have the R/R on my Wideglide and it is loud...I have the short megaphone so no quiet baffle available but they do make one for the long Meg..

Have the stainless road rage 3.

It's loud but a good loud if that makes sense. At idle you can still talk to your mates at the lights.

At wide open you cant hear yourself think.

I don't think they're too loud. Directly proportionate to the amount of twist in the wrist. Not quiet, but have heard a lot louder.

Pretty hard to say loud or quiet, all subjective. I have the road rage on my LRS, and was starting to think it's too quiet.

    Hi Guys.
New to the forum. I currently have a 48 but about to trade in for a fxdls.
I have a V+H pro comp on my 48 that burns a hole in my leg.
Looking at the Bassani RR3 on the new bike but concerned it will also blow a hole in my leg as well.
Anyone have any experience with this? Are heat shields available?

I have gone through literally 5 pairs of fucken jeans thanks to this pipe haha

It 100% will burn your pants. Don't even contemplate shorts just to duck up the servo sort of thing or your leg will cop it bad.

I don't know if those kevlar based purpose built riding jeans/pants would cope either.

Any pipe without heat shields you are going to have problems, my mate has a raw stainless Thrashin pipe and his is worse because his shoe just kisses the pipe, melts all over the pipe and fucks a pair of shoes/boots all the time.

Got a set on a 120R. Probably one of the best sounding pipes around. Real deep. Loud? Yer, maybe. But not over the top.
