cam replacement wtf

    i need some advise  i have a softail 2010 with  70000km and desided to replace cams tensioners plate pump push rods etc  so i brought s&s  cam chest kit after pulling it apart i noticed  scoring on crank sharft pinion jornual more on one  side than other where it goes through camplate bush is this nornal on motor with these k's. i have owned  it since new and ride steady   i know about  murphy  but still why  does  it fcuking happen  to meeeeee all the time could it be the smoke and 47 beers cheers fxst

    There will be some wear. After 70ks that's quite normal.
    It will be more on one side than the other, given the pinion end is out of round on most non Timken fitted bikes, certainly after 2007 when the cranks changed.
    Before the next session, round up a dial gauge, measure the crank runout, photograph and reply. 

    There may be nought to worry about. Sit back, relax, have a sherbet, smoke.....
    NO, wait, do the dial gauge thing first okay ;-)

    Some pics of camplate and crank from 2009 flht with 90,000 km before cam upgrade .... Crank runout was well within spec ...
    Gave scoring marks a light going over with fine sand paper , (could not feel any indentations with finger nail)...  You will see pic where oil pump bolts to camplate, and has more scoring marks on one side than the other ,, that is normal, due to suction operation of the oil pump ....  I made decision to re use camplate ....

      I have a pinion gauge on the way to check for runout and if I can I will post some pics

    pinion shaft runout was just on .003 cleaned up  the  scoring with  1000 grit paper good as new  camchest kit came with  all parts needed plate pump  pushrods tappets tensioners 551 easystart cams fuck what a power diffrence started straight up  don't know how long i'll have my lience for once again thanks for the help and info  fxst
