I must be getting woosy in my old age as this winter I have actually swapped from the open face glove-less riding to a full face helmet and padded kit.  Must admit that it certainly helped keep me warm in the 1 degree temps this morning.
Then on the way home I had an argument with the back of some poor buggers car and laid the bike down in an emergency stop (I cannot even remember the incident, BUT of course he must be to blame!...)

Guess I might be wearing a new full face for a longer while yet as I would hate to think what my face would look like right now!  All good though.  A bit stiff and short a mirror and indicators on the bike - so if you have some for sale yell out!

Fark mate. Glad you are OK. Sounds like your bike is fixable as well, which is great. That is a decent gouge on the chin piece and visor.....

I've been using my full face more and more these days.  Hard to argue with that picture.  Glad it wasn't any worse.

    Good that your ok.

Don't recall hitting the ground when i had my off (was hit from behind by a car at a stop sign).

Have you seen your GP ?  Loss of memory of the mishap probably isn't a big deal but it couldn't hurt be checked out.

My wife's mum is a doctor at Perth's Royal Hospital in the ICU section ... she's shown me some horrific facial and head injury photos of dead bodies ... since then i have been wearing full face every time.
I'm glad you are safe and well ... ride safe and stay safe !

This is a very delicate subject, not so if you land on ya face, each to their own and keep ya face in your own hands.. Hate FF as can't breath due to my own delicate reason, but wear near FF just short of.
You one lucky barstead, probably again, and have 9 lives. I have used bloody 19 of mine..

fark, looks nasty mate - I have both open and full face helmets myself like lots of other guys and do prefer the open face, but am always thinking about the damage that could happen if I had an off, even at low speed. Always wear the full face on longer rides or crap weather though.

I do have a set of billet mirrors lying around you can have if you like, I will try and post a piccy on the w/end. They were on my old fatty but I couldn't stand them as they are quite small and together with the vibes were next to useless - if you want them, just pay postage and they're yours.

    cheers

Tussuck, when I look at that pic of your FF helmet, I wonder just how wise of a compromise I am making when I wear my Arai 3/4 helmet (FF visor but no chin protection)?!

Thanks guys.  Had yesterday off work and am while I'm a bit bruised I am walking around okay so cannot complain.
I'll nip out and buy a new FF helmet this weekend.  Have been considering the open face as well, and my decision is that during summer when I'm out on a ride with me mates I'll use my open face however for my day to day commuting in traffic etc I'll definitely be sticking with the FF (I already have chin and face scars from the old days when I had a prang or two and was wearing an open face helmet, but that was all self inflicted as I drank a chitload back then....sigh; its amazing that when I look back at just how much chit I managed to walk away from).

The old school leather jacket is not even marked, but me padded wet weather pants will definitely no longer be keeping the water out as they are ripped to buggery - I also had my Kevlars on underneath as well so that was even an extra layer of protection.  As soon as the wrist can support weight I'm back in the saddle!

New Bell helmet sitting in the cupboard now!  Black of course and the kicker is that the visor is a 'transition' visor; which means it automatically darkens in direct sunlight!
Worked a bloody treat on the way home in the sun yesterday nad easy to see out of!

    I'm sold.
