He's just saying what most of us think and I'd say pretty much everything (except what bike reveals he wanted) he said was spot on.

He makes some valid points I reckon.
Harley are shifting the demographic of the buyer that they're chasing and they do run the risk of alienating their long term buyer base.

That repaint thing, that upset a lot of people, is just a publicity stunt - Like how would he manage to get tank badge, wheel/spokes and more clean without any over spray??? (nice, even paint job with zero dust either) - from a can or two off the shop spray can - no way

The sentiment from the clip I do agree with though - this is utter B*S from Harley (promoting celebs that is clueless what they got for free (with zillions of $ in their pocket, not giving a rats ass about the "gift" received)

Wish they offered me one - and if so, I would at least tried to show some gratitude - the fat wallet hollywood celebs dont give a rats ass about this and sadly the "got lots $ and lots $, get even more without even wanting it nor appreciate it" - and this is what HD is using to sell their brand???? - go figure....

Yep, Ol Mate is right. I didn't realise so much of the marketing BS that went out to support this launch. Why? Better off giving them to an assortment of HD riders, put $1000 in the pockets and send them all points of the compass with a camera crew. And maybe a stripper.
What sort of tool spray paints a new bike? Wanker.
I will have defend JD Morgan: he is a HD guy, and was obviously three sheets to the wind & acting a touch Negan.

What a bullshit launch, give a bunch of bikes to who were these people. Would have been better to run a contest worlwide to current riders, register online with details of current bike and introduce the new range to old customers. We  don't know what their financial situation is and streamlining production with a single frame might have been the only option for profitability in the long run to survive.
We can always hope they are working on other models and frame designs to correct handling on dyna styles without destroying tradition, as people who own them know they do need some work and with the speed of change harley has shown over the years they might have only managed one frame at a time. The need to release this years models may have forced their hands.

Chances are they just said "which of these bikes can we make cheaper in the long run."   And "how little can we do to make dumbarses think this is a modern bike?"

We all have to think harley is not a huge company, nor is it a backyard operation but  the costs associated with development of  the new engine plus upgrading of the softail frame which most would agree was about time they made it handle like a modern bike, well we hope it does would  have cost millions. While jap bikes design whole new bikes on a regular basis because they are huge companys with vast cash resources and super hi tech facilities harley are more limited both facilities and a lot of design limitations because it must still be a harley. With luck and work they have a motor that will carry them forward and a solid frame to run it in, hopefully they will hear comments and continue to develop other frames based on bikes like the dyna and continue to develop the cvo to make it a goldwing killer. This years bikes have pissed a lot of people off but unless you are hell bent on having the newest thing I think just wait a year or hopefully less for them to react, could be a dyna style frame just couldn't be ready in time for this years models and remember things don't happen at great speed at harley they live at a 1940's pace.

For us it's pretty nauseating to watch a bunch of B grade celebrities getting those free bikes.  But don't forget they are in the U.S.  Americans are celebrity obsessed and therefore this makes for a good marketing exercise.  In that country a reality TV star can be president.

Keep seeing this opinion that these new bikes are intended to attract younger buyers however the price has gone up which makes it all the harder for a younger person to buy. Which leaves the street and sporty bikes for younger people without $30k +.  The street bob was a well priced entry level big twin but their new range doesn't have anything around that price anymore

We all know most sheeple don't think for themselves and follow "famous " people, just think Michael Jackson was paid millions to promote Pepsi even though he would have desolved in it. Each of these people could demand big money to promote a product so the cost of a bike each was cheap, the last two probebly got paid a couple of hundred each but didn't get to keep the bike because that  was all they would get paid to do an add for anything. You only have to watch Gruen ( I think that's how you spell it ) and you get an insight to how advertising firms work, Harley just showed them the product and described the demographic they were after and left it to them to develop the launch. The obvious way was get celebrities to endorse the bikes, in this case b grade celebs with social media connections who would only cost a bike each. A grade ones would have charged way to much and Tom Cruise fans are not who they were aiming at, they knew current Harley riders would already roll in to check out the new models so there was no point in pushing the bikes to them, the launch was to younger trendies with a good disposable income who follow all the  trends. Despite the hype the launch was done on the cheap and while it didn't attract us it might have hit the mark it was aiming for but I doubt it.

I thought it was a lot of hype for what I expected to be a parts bin bike - which is clearly wasn't.

As a Dyna owner I wouldn't upgrade to the ex-dyna names softails. They just appear to be too small, smaller tank, forward controls are closer etc.

Over the coming years I'd like to see us be able to start with a frame and 'build' it to order.

Choose the following from the various combinations

    - Engine size

    - Rear wheel Size

    - Wheel styles

    - Fender styles F&R

    - Forks

    - Brakes

    - Controls

    - Bars

    - Lighting

Similar to what you can do with the current 'Bike Builder' on the US site only this would mean you would truly have a factory built 'Custom'

But if I had to pick a 2018 model it would be a tourer.
