hello to forum members can anyone help i have fxst  softail 2010 with standard 21x2.15 laced wheel spokes are getting bit rusty and would like to go to a cast front wheel so i can run tubeless . i have found a second hand wheel off a 2015 breakout  21x3 and am wondering if it will fit without  any mods re front guard  axle  in other words straight  swap out . any help would be appreciated thanks fxst.

I put a Breakout front wheel on my 2010 Wideglide and it was a straight swap but I did change the guard as the standard one looked to skinny with the wider front wheel.I am pretty sure the Softail and Wideglides are almost the same front end.

I put a wider 21 inch rim on my 2008 FXST,
not a breakout one, a laced one but the same dimensions.
Had to slightly elongate the mounting holes on the front guard to raise it up a bit.
The front guard does look a bit skinny with the wider tyre as Sparra said. However it still works ok and I use it as so far I have not seen a suitable alternative guard thats a simple swap.

A mate recently gave me a smooth front rim from off his 2007 softail, I have a 2007 wide glide, I assumed that they would be the same. The softail used 25mm ID wheel bearings, my WG uses 1.00" ID wheel bearings. The bearings where also a different thickness, I had to replace the spacer between the bearings also to get them to mount correctly in the hub.

I used a Fatbob front guard but had to extend the mounts to fit over the 21" wheel...

How did you get on mate with the wheel swap ?
