FYI - I finally managed to chase up a Perth well known HD part dealer who can sell the exact part this arrogant bastard want $187.00 for - Perth dealer price AU $40 & its in stock so no wait!

Again - anyone wanting to pay 215% higher price for what other oz dealer can sell it for - go for it - but dont go around defending your stupid moves pointing to a range of B*S technicalities such as import duty, wage, "the land far, far away" etc etc

Mate you posted the issue here but what did you want to hear, howls of protest or just condemnation toward this guy. I think we all know the prices are over the top but he charges what the market will pay, the price will never be the same as US price and if people are willing to pay a premium he will charge that and if not he makes nothing. There is little competition for what he sells so someone with the capital might try and undercut him one day but even then they will be surprised at what the must charge to have a sustainable business especially if it is their sole income. 

Vote with your money.  Tell them you're doing it if you feel the need.  Simple.

Missus was in banking, insurance and telcos for years. Has her own fitness business and does admin for her brothers earth moving business. She never gives anyone bad feedback or feedback at all. If she gets bad service she just never goes back. They don't deserve her effort or help. She doesn't want them to get better or improve. HOWEVER, if a business that she likes makes a genuine error, she will forgive them.
