You can now easily share forum topics on Facebook. I've added a share button at the top and bottom of each thread page. Using the share button will post the text and/or images from the first post in any topic to Facebook with a link back to the forum.  The share button is only available in publicly accessible forums.

Some may have noticed that the hosted Facebook share button I put in yesterday was really slow to load.  I've replaced it with a version that loads instantly.

I've never been a fan of facebook.  But if sites like this one are to survive they need to integrate with social media.  That's just the hard reality.

    Facebook is wonderful.

    Seriously.

I don't know how I could get thru the day without knowing what my 'Friends' have been doing.

I really do think it is important for me to keep abreast of what my Friends, Friends of friends, Friends of friends of friends, and complete random strangers who are Friends of friends of friends have been doing in the garden or how proud they are of their kids performance in the school concert.

I really appreciate being reminded how many Weeks, Sleeps or Mondays there are till Christmas. Without it, Christmas might come and go and I'd be non the wiser.

And thank goodness I get to see what important valuable opinions the TV show hosts have like Karly Stefwhat's-hisname and Waleed Whatchimacalllit has to say about the world because, as they must know, I'm incapable of forming my own opinion based on the facts available.

It also keeps me up to date with important topics such as, to vote YES....or to vote NO in the SSM survey. Lets me know which political party all my Friends, friends of friends etc are voting for in elections or opposing.

I reckon it's great that 'Friends' choose to 'Share a memory' of something important to them of which I don't give a flying fuck about but I'd better 'Like' it just to ensure I don't  offend them.

You know, I don't get nearly enough Junk Mail in my letter box or Spam in my e-mail Inbox or unsolicited phone calls at dinner time so I do appreciate seeing the posts from businesses, which has been 'Liked' by a good Friend.....or Friend of friend....or Friend of friend of friend.

I can look busy at work whilst I'm actually 'Liking' some random thing I've seen on FB just so I can piss of Friends.....Friends of friends.....Friends of friends of friends....you get my drift.

I can 'Poke' or 'Wave' a 'Friend' or whatever then sit by my mobile phone/tablet/computer as I anxiously await their response.

Finally there is nothing more empowering for me than the ability to 'Unfriend' someone who I find annoying.

Facebook rocks. Please press 'Like' if you agree. (You know I'll be awaiting your response).

That's very informative Rodders. I'm going to copy and share it with my friends and ask that they copy and share it too... 99% won't but I know some will

Rodders, you have fucken nailed it my man. I am on facebook under another name but have no friends. I'm only on it to look at car/bike pages. These forums, while they may die one day, will be around while us "older" generation are on this earth.

Facebook is full of crap but is one way to keep up with what family is up to, at my age I have heaps of nieces and nephews now with their own new families scattered around Australia and the world and it's hard to keep track of births and birthdays and Facebook works for that.
