I have a 2012 SG and always listen to music when I ride. I don't like having the phone plugged into the unit via a cable, is there any way around this other than updating the stereo. I have tried a Bluetooth device that plugged into the mp3 inlet but it constantly kept cutting out.
Would a 4.3 stereo froma 14 model work without any problems.

thanks Paul, hoping to get away from wires but hiding it might be the next best way.

Not sure about the '12 SGs, but I put the music in mp3 format onto a USB and leave that plugged into the unit on my '14 so I don't have to rely on the phone for music - works a treat

No need to convert the music to MP3 for the 14+. If you have itunes, simply select the songs from your play list and drag them over to the USB. There's a thread here somewhere.
Sorry can't help you with the 14- bikes.
A little USB hub (needs to be small) allows you to use a USB drive for the tunes and a small cable for the phone (charging / music) in the bike phone glovebox
