I'm thinking seriously about selling my 2016 iron 883 and move on to 48.

Many many thoughts have come across my mind one of which like 1200cc conversion.

I'm a die hard sportster fan so wont consider other HD family.. seeing the change isn't that significant... I'm curious.
Definatley not asking for amyone to make an decision for me but I'm interested to know if anyone has made transition from 883 to 48?  Was it a worthwhile change for you? And what's it like to live with 48? What differences did you notice and do you miss anything about 883?

    Thanks champs.

I've never had a 48 but I've had both 883 and 1200 Sportsters.  I had a 2007 883 Sportster Standard and I also had an older 1992 883 Sportster XLH.  I converted both to 1200.  The difference is massive.  Having said that, I sold both the converted bikes and I now have a factory 1200 Custom.  The 1200 Sportster is a great bike.  The 883 is ok but it struggles to keep up with bigger bikes, while the 1200 will outrun most older Harleys and certainly keep up effortlessly with the newer big twins.
The problem with doing an 883/1200 conversion is that you most likely will not recover your costs, unless you do it yourself.  Converted bikes won't hold their value like a factory 1200 will.  The conversion can be problematic with getting the right tune.  The only issue I see with the 48 is tank size, if the small tank doesn't bother you then go for it.  Tanks can always be swapped out pretty easily in any case.

Another factor to consider moving to a 48 is better brakes.

Suggest you look at the Roadsters - same as the 48 with a 50% bigger tank.

As much as I like the looks of the 48 or 72 or Roadsters, the darn tank size annoys me :P
I took a 883 out for a spin before buying the 1200 Custom, didn't seem to enjoy it.
