I have recieved emails that say I have thousands of dollars in bitcoins and need to confirm account to receive the money, funny thing is I have no idea how I got them so I think scam.
Just like the email I got that someone with my same surname died rich and a lawyer would rig it so I could collect the estate and split it with him.

The bitcoin is a "real" thing. As for a scam i suggest you read how it derives its value or growth to determine if its a scam.

I know bitcoin is real, just no idea how I got $12000 worth so I am sceptical about the emails I got.

Some years ago, I was constantly getting the scam emails. Shit loads of add emails and heaps of scam emails, You know, Some good sumaritan has left you a few million, send a fee and we will deposit money. Same as Microsoft. You know, we are from Microsoft and we detect a fault in your windows operating system, Give us password and we fix. And on the scams go.
Microsoft do not ever cold call a domestic purchaser of any Windows product.

Nobody gives free money away in any form. Your bit coin emails are scams.

What I did a couple years ago is : I do not give my email to hardly any buisness or company. I do not fill email address on any forms on line or on paper except just a few I know and trust. I dont get bombarded with scam emails or emails from buisnesses telling me there electrity rates are cheaper bla bla bla. Its worked a treat. I rarely ever even get and add email nowdays except on certain retailers, (Very few) and thier only from buisnesses that I want to get emails from. Even the electricity company im with doesnt have my phone no either. When I signed up they wanted my phone no. I said nup, dont have one. Fuck em, They can send a letter too. I dont and havnt for a fair while now get the phone call scams or dickhead charities annoying me. Not putting my phone number on forms on line or paper for any buisness has worker a treat to.

I have a real el cheapo pre pay throw away second phone that I use for some stuff and if I get any scam calls, I just throw the sim card away and buy another for 2 bucks with a new number.

If some buisness wants to contact me, my view is do it the old fashioned way, put it in writing and send a letter. No law says I gotta give anyone a valid email address or phone number.

I used to get that much crap on computor that I had to do a factory reboot twice a year. Havnt had to do a reboot for a couple of years on windows 7  and nor windows 10 that I have had a little while now.

I forgot, sometimes if i email a buisness like a camping store, I do so with a new email address  and if they bombard my comp with email add after email add, I delete that new email address. You can beat the pricks at their own game.
