Hello! Can anyone help me with teeth stripping off starter pinion and ring gear? My bike is a 1996 Road King and went for 20 years and 350,000 km before this started to occur. Now i have replaced pinion gear twice and ring gear once, checked operation of solenoid and now intend to check out switches and the electric circuitry as described in the service manual, but really I am floundering and don't have a clear way forward.

It won’t be the switches the only thing I can think of is I would replace the the inner primary bush and
Also the outer bush in the outer primary cover  if there excessively worn thay could be causing your
Miss alignment between the ring and pinion when the starter is engaged

would make sure  engine is in good con'd & tuned well, otherwise it can kick back on da starter clutch & gear ,  luckly ya not kickstart only , for strong use would revert back to da coarse teeth early 1990 - 94  style ring & pinion starter gear , strongest ya gonna get
