    Ha,
in Victoria they get the latest AMG, $200K.
    http://www.news.com.au/technology/innovation/motoring/victoria-police-have-australias-fastest-cop-car--a-200000-mercedes-gle63-amg-suv-coupe/news-story/04a395d1065f88514f2af6fc9118b841

That AMG is a loaner from MB. Didn't cost the tax payer anything....thankfully.

The new Vic Police Highway Patrol cars will be stripped down diesel engined BMW's.

good economy and torque, if thats what they will look like will spot them a mile away coming at you, the nsw cop chasers you can't spot them they don't have visible taxi roof rack like this.
will be interesting to see if reliable and what they sell for after with no air conditioning or power steering.

And speaking of Police tactics re-car chasing, in Victoria there be a new method of thought.
It is the "Box method" (Get ya dirty mind outta there!) What they do, as I saw process happen a few weeks ago, is tail the offending vehicle, and have another vehicle on the inside, outside, and ahead, to box alleged offender in to slow him to stop.(Damaged Police vehicles for auction is better than trail of dead peoples.)
T"was interesting to see in action by coincidence, on Nepean Highway Victoria 2 weeks ago.

Do you really believe that a government department that is heavily union based would allow its members to drive a vehicle without air or steer...........really?

Years ago, our SA police cars had the radios removed. Cops weren't allowed to have private transistor radios in the car. They had to drive with their hats on. If it wasn't raining, they had to drive with the windows open. They used to dream of having air conditioners. Toughened em up I say.

race drivers do it and drive harder and faster than the cops and further Bathurst so on , but your right. could not see any performance gain's unless the did remove air conditioner, they prob use electric steering so would not effect engine drag.

good pic Keith, was trying to work out the year I think about 1970 to 1971 look at sun visor and open face, was only 10 years before that a bike cop on a trophy with side car would have the sergeant in side car wearing no helmet but that , on the bus's cop hat, no gun's., we had tough cops like bumper farrel then.

Here is SA they drive the cars till the wheels fall off.

The cars are being kept till 90,000 km then being almost given away.

Aparently have no idea what they are going to change to.

My vote would be a mustang convertible, would look hot as fuck.

LOL Would the coppers have to wear the flashing lights on their heads as its hard to put a light bar on a car with a retractable roof
