    Hi and thanks in advance
09 rocker...... My plan is to have no console at all just a Leather tank bib. Then make a bracket and hang the speedo of the handle bar risers, I have removed / unplugged all speedo and console wires photo below. I am now at the stage of tank bib in place speedo ready to install,
This is my problem I have tried to start the bike, it will turn over but not start. When I turn on my ignition button there is no fuel pump prime sound, with some help from a previous post am I right to think there is something in my disconnected wires that disables my fuel pump prime and if so what do I do. Of course I can use a sparky but would prefer to do the work my self.

Hope this is making sense and you can follow
    thanks bloodog

Have you plugged everything back in and tried starting it? And did it start?

If it started, unplug one at a time and try starting again to isolate which plug is giving you is issue.

But whats your plan from there?

Ive used a rubber mallet working on my bikes before but never a claw hammer. I'd say that's one step before using a chainsaw

if it is cranking but no firing then you need to connect the fuel pump back up..

its a yellow plug by memory ...

    connect that a try again...

oh wow.. I suggest you take it to a auto elect or your closet HD dealer...

hope you don't have to get a new loom..

Oh no bd. The loom is all the wiring for the bike. Every bit joins to the next. If you really have smashed / cut/ ground down the plugs A good auto electrician should be able to get plugs for you and make new connectors or jury rig the required wiring. It is a custom after all. You might be able to find a harley wreck and get the plugs plus a bit of the wiring loom. That way you could match the wire colours and solder the new plug in. I just don’t think you’ll be doing it yourself. Good luck.

I would think that if it takes a claw hammer to get it off it's not meant to come off.

Just when and confessed my sins to the auto electrician, after a quick chat he retcons he can solder wires straight to the fuel pump, this is excellent news as it will lay flat under the tank bib, may have dodged a bullet here

below photos of my handy work, anybody need any work done on their bike just post me and I'll be straight around with my grinder and claw hammer

I wasn't judging you, we all fuck up some time. As a rule if it seems like a good idea as you start into the second half of the case it usually works out to be a bad idea when you sober up.

I can see fuel leaks or fire happening trying to solder that  , would say your going to be in the market for a new tank panel

Glad the auto elec looks like he's gonna sort it
You're banned from using tools around your bike outside of spanners and sockets ok

bloodog bloodog bloodog. what were you thinking.
Main thing is rectify issue, and yes we all do that kinda thing, some much worse than your little foray with hammer on Harley. Your honesty is no small attribute. cool, just discern between woodworking tools and Harley working tools.

What a classic! Pissed myself laughing at this post.

Bloodog, you are a champion. Not many left who can laugh at themself.

No major problem for a sparky to fix, I'd do it for free if you were nearby.

    Onya, Roo.
