    Hi All,
Simple question for someone in the know. but when riding my footpeg nut rattled off on my stock 77 Sportster. I went and grabbed a 1/2 nut of each Whitworth, UNF and UNC because I wasn't sure. None of these work with the footpeg stud. Does anyone know what thread they are?

Unfortunately I've taken it to three different places locally that I know of and they've all shrugged their shoulders at me, clearly I don't know the right places. My knowledge in this area is pretty basic as well. I was under the impression it would all just be basically UNC but it's just slightly different.

Don't know if this works but there is an app on google play with good reviews called thread pitch.that supports most thread types.

    Thanks,
It's got me completely stumped as to what it is. It's definitely not UNF as it's roughly 13 tpi. Which is what UNC is, but UNC locks up halfway screwed on and to my knowledge UNC is identical to the old USS. I know BSW is 12 tpi but it does the same as UNC. At the moment I'm just living with no footpeg but it seems very odd to me that it's some strange thread that isn't well known or used.

If you can get the thread started and going in, I'd say there's debris (old threadlocker) in there.

I thought it may have been replaced with metric so I went down that route to no avail. Its definitely not stuffed and there's no debree. The nut from the other footpeg goes on with ease. Appreciate everyone having a crack. I figured it was something specific but known by the right people but doesn't sound like that's the case either.
