I have hear from a previous post of your how many kms you have done. Good to hear you got that many kms out of it.
Cant wait to see how the build turns out.
Did you ever think of selling and and buying another bike would it have been more cost effective? or you just love your bike too much to let go ?

who makes the barrels for hammer?

could be s&s as they make there own 1250 barrels, if hammer ordered enough they would make them.
axtell have been around for ages. a mate of mine build an axtell 88 mountain motor back in about 1988.
hammer told me the barrels are very strong don't wear and are thick in walls, so good. that's just like s&s. but you need to make sure pistons get Lub on the skirt's. the big twin s&s barrels , hilly mentioned what they are made of, in a post not long back. then was talking to a guy who had a big twin s&s barrel eat a piston. if I was building or having one built I would get the piston skirts coated in Lub type coating, a place in Sydney does it & prob in Melbourne too. also could bead blast the skirt's to help .
also trying to limit rev's to 6,000 a good idea. when the roaring sporty's raced. they used to rev them to 8,000, and every race meet they replaced the rings, every second race meet they replaced the pistons and rings, they ran really loose piston to cylinder clearances . all the oil would go from the oil tank to the large catch can under the frame, in one race.
if you limit the rev's to 6,000 last a lot longer. when I get mine rebuilt ( gear box top and bottom end ) I'll be setting it up for maximum 6,000 and I'll drag race it too, as well as ride a lot.
good luck and hope it arrives quick.

will probably depend what cams you choose, I'm going for high lift short duration . that will come on quick fall off quick, so I make hp & tq quick.
I got some ohlin's shocks on rear and they work great road 1,200 k on weekend.

    that's great!!
only took a week for the air cleaner kit to arrive, think if parts you want in stock , they get them off to you quick.
if you need special job's done, would have to wait for the jobs to be done, unless a pre set up kit or cams, good luck with it!
do you think you would ever go to the track and test it?
I think I'll be going to the track with my stock old 03 soon and a mate with a worked 00 model is going to come. then after I get l a cycles to do mine in Sydney I'll get back to the track just look at trap speeds as that tell's me how much hp , a 120hp sporty should hit 135mph on the quarter.

Have a look at the above link where a heap of exhausts have been reviewed and compared on the dyno. One of the least expensive exhausts is the best all round performer and the quality is also very good. Win win. I had one on a big twin and the quality and value for money was impressive.

I bought a supertrapp 2 into 1 off someone who was going to put on a 48 but didn't, I tried to fit it to my solid mount sporty but didn't clear rear master cylinder or forward controls, was thinking off modifying but haven't in 3 years, they have never been used on a bike if your interested pm me.

    Pretty ridiculous isn't it.

I'm into Downhill mountain biking, I had a trip to Thredbo all locked in and accommodation paid etc. A swingarm pivot bolt snapped in my bike, a very one off bolt that couldn't be sourced locally and machining it over Christmas break would prove to be difficult with everyone on holidays.

I paid $70 USD for express postage (this is for a $4 bolt haha) it made it from Washington to Sydney in 2 days, yet got held up in Aus customs for 16 days.

Fucked my whole trip up completely.

Please let me know how your entire experience goes including import process and fees, how Hammer was to deal with. Hiw long the freight took etc. Im in Victoria and I've been thinking about buying some of their stuff too. From all reports Hammer seem to make the best perdornance kits around. Thanks

    L_mr2, how is it going?
about the displacement set at 97cid , I took a bobby wood carb I have off my old 95cid twin cam dyna and put it on my Buell m2 carb that is 74cid did not change anything just put an s&s G manifold as carb would not fit to stock manifold . the 74cid Buell ran perfect, later I fitted D&D full race system ( Buell 2 into 1 mantdrel bends ) still with same jetting , never dynode it but in my pic's there is a dyno of the stock M2 with woods carb and cow at L A Cycles did stock thunderstorm heads, I just had bike straight on dyno no tuning just one run, told operator stop at 6,500. goes harder up high with the D&D 2 into 1 but never dynoed. just mentioning as the sporty motor runs fine with same jetting as I ran with 95 cid twin cam ( my twin cam flew!! ) so would not effect your tune, with EFI can get them perfect if you know how to tune & have the right software. so how is the new motor feel? how is economy? how does it idle compared to as it was before?

I was happy with the jackhammer 570's, no drawbacks at all. Had all the meat of the stock cam down low then as above, come 3.5k rpm it was a case of hold on :)

0-100 I reckon my old sporty would smoke my Low Rider S. Long live the little sporty!
