ABS Brakes will be mandatory on ALL bikes sold in Aust from November 2019 regardless of capacity. This brings us in line with Europe  who mandated ABS on all bikes larger than 125cc back in 2016. Ours go one step further with ALL bikes 

Hopefully they'll come with a switch to disengage the ABS, like BMW GS models.
ABS on gravel is shite.

ABS can get you out of shitty situations more than get you into them

Think your opening a can of worms here, ABS on the dirt is NOT unsafe as you suggest. We all agree that it takes longer to stop and forces you to ride more cautiously but it not "unsafe".

Except for some trail bikes, enduro bikes, and some adventure bikes will have switchable ABS to turn it off when you like

Thanks mate. Smile at their definition of a trail bike " (A trail bike is defined as having a 21? front wheel and solo seat.) Other than the capacity there would be a few baggers out there that fit that criteria.....LOL

That Cornering ABS demonstration is impressive - allows you to keep your line & not venture into oncoming traffic.

You may have missed the point here, its not about holding your line ,its to assist you to stop hard and quickly where you have encountered a pushbike going much slower than you around a bend as example. Or you have fucked up and gone into a bend too hot and about to run headfirst into that Hilux with a bullbar.

I prefer my road bikes to have ABS and cornering ABS seems like a good improvement (yes I've noticed the tendency of activated ABS to stand the bike up and push it wide in a corner).  But that's road bikes, I'm yet to be convinced that the same benefits apply with off road bikes and I notice that even though it was KTM they performed the test on a tar circuit not on a dirt track.

I thought it was a big wank when the salesman was telling me about it when I picked up my new Trumpy Tiger XCA, but it is awesome.

I can fang this thing through the twisties with a lot more confidence that if the road surface or obstacles get in my way, that between me and the bike, we will see it through.

The ability to dial in how much wheel spin I cam have is also a bonus, I can hang the arse end out on bitumen or dirt without the bike getting away from me.

I love this Trumpy, and have 7,000 km's clocked up on her in 14 weeks.

That'll bugger the posties, no way would you get all that stuff on a postie bike.
