Well Harley has done it again, best selling road bike in Aust again. Street 500 sold 1182 bikes a 29% fall over last year but still the best selling bike. Second was Breakout with 1150 bikes a 23% fall over last year. Top LAMS bike was a WR450F with a Street 500 second . Overall the market slipped 9.3%  or nearly 11000 bikes fewer than 2016.

Do we expect anything else? They're great machines.

Was there a total of new Harleys sold in Au this year compared to last?

amazing how "WE" the general buyers of the product complain about the price, brakes, exhaust, dealers and more

near all the "other" manufactures riders hate our brand

yet we see the sales results still at the top, confusion????

The numbers don't lie. Buyers want a solid cruiser bike with soul, not the type of bike that looks something like a Transformer toy or a plastic rocking horse.

Could it be that Harley riders replace their bikes with another Harley where others chase the latest and fastest no matter what the brand. Hard to build brand loyalty when companies  are never satisfied building a good product, it always has to be faster. Building bikes aimed at the race track does create development programs which bring things like better suspension and brake systems but riders will jump any brand they think is behind. Either that or a lot realize too late that rossi just makes it look easy till reality hits a seccond before the road or mr plod takes all their money and tells them not to ride anymore.

Harley sell you a lifestyle or the dream of a lifestyle that includes clothing etc to keep you on the hook. They arrange rides and social activities thru their HOGS program and more importantly allow us old buggers to still enjoy motorcycling at a more leisurely pace but can turn it on when you feel the need. I don't have to travel at 200kph anymore to enjoy my ride , and funnily arrive some times ahead of the Ducati/Honda etc superbike rider with 200hp Dunlop sticky tyres and a $2000 airbag race suit. These are the Wallies that go and trade that bike because the old one is not fast enough.
