Hi, I have ended up with my late brothers 74 Electra Glide and the battery is stuffed, only holding 8.2V.
I don’t know much about Harley’s. (Mostly ride dirt bikes)
I am wondering if I should buy a battery from a Harley dealer or can someone let me know what I should get? The faulty battery is a Deka ETX16.

I will probably be back with more questions, once I get it sorted.

    Thanks
    Michael

Best to get a new one from a Harley dealer.  Genuine batteries are decent quality and reasonably priced.

Thanks for the info, I will check out a dealer.

It had a full engine rebuild about 5 years ago and was ridden every now and then until about 3 years ago, now out of rego. The bloke who was meant to be looking after it left it in his shed, uninsured!

    Thanks again.

Hi mike. Good luck with the battery. Just a thought. Why would leaving bike in shed uninsured make any difference?

Just if it got stolen or damaged in a fire etc.
More upset that he really wanted it to look after and then left it sitting. It actually belongs to my nieces, but they don’t ride and I think it should be ridden a bit.

    Just venting I guess.

I have a trickle charger for it when I replace the battery.
