As I am sure you all know , back around 2011 when the Aussie dollar was at $1.05 USD , these kind of things FLOODED into Australia for a fair old time !
Harley importer I know used to buy ratty KZ900's and KZ1000's to backfill his containers in which the Harleys were coming over to WA from LA
he would buy them privately from the guy's house , or out the back store of HD dealers , or by word of mouth.
None and I mean NONE were "nice" bikes , but all were runners. Extended forks , Apehanger bars , drag pipes , "king and Queen seats " ( hideous FFsake !)
He had no problem selling them here as projects , they flew out the door !
Last one of mine was a basket case 76 Z900. Paid some one to rebuild it, but I did a the lotta work myself, remember picking up in my Mainline ute,(351 lowered and horn- i digress again) in 1983. Near wrote her off in 84, spending 2 months in hospital, bloody wheel chair. Only reason so long in hospital was had no home, no one to look after me and the nurses liked me. Anyhow enough crap, that bike rebuilt through friends, and rode for another year till trade in on Gutzzi and new pins. Hence the V twin hooking in..Another Guzz, then Harleys. But I'd buy anotherin a snap, but not for a zillion dollars, would buy another if reasonable priced, but missed the boat as Retro mentioned. If anyone wants a Z900 manual, is ok, a coupla pages greasy, but good, zap me ya address and I'll send off. though you can pay postage.B
