Grot, what are your thoughts on nightly acc. stops and daily travel plan etc.
a detailed itinerary might tempt a few more to jump onboard.

    No set itinerary
I normaly do the west coast first get into Hobart on Friday afternoon for the Salamanca markets on Saturday
Will start thinking about nightly accomodation around 130 pm ..all depends on where we are ..
10 days is more than enough to see what you want without having to rush
IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED THEN LET ME KNOW BY END OF OCTOBER THEN WE CAN ALL MEET AND PLAN IT TOGETHER

    Day5 Port Arthur via Richmond
Day6 Wine Glass Bay thru to Bicheno

    Agree with H&H
coast road north of Bicheno through to St Helens is a terrific bit of road
after you check out Binalong Bay and the Gardens. have a look at Weldborough Pub and the Pub in the Paddock
then back through Scottsdale to Launceston

I did this route with the missus over 5 days starting Boxing Day last year. Was fucking unreal.
    Some thoughts:
    • East coast was great (but bloody windy!).
    • Originally had planned to go further north but had a flat tyre heading to Wineglass Bay so lost most of a day (were on a deadline). Cut across Waratah Creek Forest Reserve etc. Glad we did – was great road.
    • Weather scuppered plans to go from Cradle mountain out through Queenstown. Need to get back and see that part. I suspect it’s awesome. Ended up going south down the guts via Deloraine, Oatlands etc. Nice but a bit dull compared to the rest.
    • If I did it again, I’d definitely be looking for local knowledge. We planned it all ourselves and could have done better with some inside tips.
    • I hired a bike down there. Bad move.
    • Expect bad weather. We had freezing winds/rain and blistering sun within 24hrs.
    • 5 days wasn’t enough. Would do twice that with some off-bike days mixed in.
    • Everyone in Tassie gets a water view ;-)
    • Do it!

Any of the SA crew interested in this ride? Might reconsider if a few of us decide to go.

    You could have her brother
    Or he could have you
Would be a better option for both of you

done Tassie four times, first time in the 80's, first time slept on beach"s & camped out, never had any food with us. one day I think had to go a long way to find a place to eat. but last time I was down there all changed . Always had a great time down there!!
Make sure you time it to hit Hobart while Sal markets are on!
I've done trip around it in three day's, but you need a lot more time to see it all, one trip I spent 6 weeks, but still have not seen everything.
climbed to top of lake Skinner in old days ( took a while!! ) cost me $3 to camp on one beach up east coast, the money was for hot shower. but right down the south camping was free. ( probably changed )
