    Just dropped her off, last ride as a 103. Getting a 107 hi comp kit with stage 4 SE heads S & S 585 cams S & S hi flow oil pump and cam plates plus new cam chains and adjusters and full service. Should go from around 85 rwhp to 115 rwhp. ?? ??

    Nice Steve, you'll be chomping at the bit to get it back. Don't forget you might need to consider strengthening your clutch.

    Mine is a very similar build. Stage 4 taken to a 107, SE CNC heads, 58mm TB and Tman 585 cams. Got 107hp/110Tq

    Its to stop the crank from twisting. Its an cheap insurance policy for big tq/hp motors

    It's not cheap to strengthen the crank. The odd one fails but many 107 kits (and 110 and 117)  done without problems.

    I ran a 107 at about 10.4 comp with the same s&s 585 cams as you Steve but no change to heads. I bought a bigger throttle body but didn't use it. Torque was strong early and both builder and tuner both warned about twisting throttle on wide open from too early in the rev range or risk of crank twisting or separating became greater.

    crank runout is 2.5 thousand, he reckons that's real good especially for an engine with 40k klms.

    suck it and see I spose, a lot of builds don't even run upgraded oil pump and cam plates and do okay. Just have to hope all is good. It's already cost me over $5k now so my budget is well and truly spent.

    Whats it cost to split cases and weld a crank?
    Old matesup to 5k without splitting.

    A crate engine is worth what, 10-12k? Theres a tippin point somewhere there.

    There's a bit more involved than just "weld" the crank.

    decided to leave the crank and hope it's all good. It was on the dyno this afternoon at Procycles in Slacks Creek with Fred looking after it and it has pulled some good numbers. 116hp and 134fpt.

    thanks Hilly for the advice, she needs to go back to the tuner as it has a bad flat spot around 1500 to 2000 rpm. Above that is where the fun begins, she will light up the rear without much effort now. ??

    Yeah it's a twin system, Vance and Hines power duals and Monster ovals with the plug removed. Not sure why Fred didn't nail it first time as he is known to be one of the best tuners in SEQ. So long as it's sorted out next time all will be good.

    Yeah I was a vit suprised but the ride doesnt feel like it. Once over 2000rpms it pulls hard and fast to redline. Hopefully it will be back in next week getting sorted. Maybe yhe next tune might change things a little.

    Looking like it will be going in for different cams. The reason it has so much torque is becuse the builder put in 11.1  pistons which is causing extreme cylinder pressure. Fred has tried 4 times to get it right vut said he just keeps chasing his tail with combo.

    There are a few options if i am just doing cams so long as i stay under 600. Fred suggested i go with 625 gear driven cams but that would be expensive and after some advice its probably not a good idea to go gear drive cams on a stock crank. The heads in the current configuration wont handle 625's unless they are removed and different valve springs are fitted.

    Unfortunately you're not gonna find too many cams (if any at all) with lift at or under .600 to suit your compression. How did you end up with those pistons? That changes a few things...

    The builder put them in and i didnt know until after the dyno and asked some questions. I assumed he was putting in 10.5 to 1 as i told him thats what the second hand ones are. I was advised the Fueling 594 cams would work well with my pistons. Ive had a bit of a look on the web and Andrews make a cam that should also work plus Tman have one as well.

    Yeah I was looking at Andrews and whilst I have no experience with them, their 60h cam with 56 degree intake valve close might suit but as Hilly says you need to know what the true compression is. 

    I wouldnt be happy if I wanted certain pistons and different pistons were installed with a bigger dome and an extra half a point of compression. Who supplied the pistons?
