I had to jump the Harley dealer parts counter and find my own parts on their computer today, the parts girl couldn’t get her head around the idea of replacing the “L” in XL with an “R”. Once I found it I said “ it’s that bit, number 7, do you have it in stock?”
    She replied “no” .
I said “can you order it?”
    She replied “yes”
I said “ok, I’ll go back over that side of the counter now”
She thanked me for the help, the other customer smirked, I smirked, We all smirked together....

It’s a major operation taking that fucking rack off, worth the effort though I reckon.

    Good Stuff, SF!!
Looks a bit like the rubber mounts my ol carb Buell uses.
My sporty a Rigid mount, does not seem to vibrate to me. but I started out on Rigid mount motor big twins ( they vibrate but I got used to it )
the rigid sporty seems to handle better as no rubber flex. I had that with dyna too, I broke the rear rubber mount on the Dyna at drags wobble!!!! the trick was use throttle wide open and rear brake at same time.
    great tech info!!

    I like your bike!!

I haven’t ridden it yet Krash. After taking the rack off and giving it a wash I had to take the missus into town.... maybe tomorrow I’ll get to ride it.

It will be sweet mate they are a nice motor, straight valve train, big pin crank n lighter flywheels. good oiling system too now big twins following with oil cooling like your XR.
post up how it feels, I got a German made stencil bar on my Buell night & day improvement, stops forward to rear movement I have four side to side stabilisers and one forward to rear, & it helps rubber mounts too.

Took it out for a ride today over some pretty rough back roads.
First impressions were it definitely felt more planted everywhere.. straights , corners, over the rough stuff. But a new set of Harley mounts might of given me that feel aswell, mine seemed pretty shagged, and I can’t remember what it felt like when it was new. You don’t seem to notice how bad things like this are getting because as it’s wearing out you’re getting used to it, it’s not until you replace it you realise how shitty it was.

At the start of my ride it did seem to vibrate more than the last time I rode it, but it wasn’t excessively more, I was pretty much used to it after a 100ks and was thinking I would need to ride one that didn’t have this mod and then straight after jump on mine to see if it was causing more vibration.
So for me I think it’s a big improvement with handling, I’m happy with it for sure.

Today was the first time out with the new 2nd hand tank bag I scored for bugger all awhile back. It’s part of the touring pack HD released for the XR, discontinued now... It’s pretty handy, oldmate even left a $10 note in one of the inside pockets, I think I’ll leave it there for good luck.

Remember that REPCO bike lift I was whinging about at the start of this thread? This piece of shit?

    HD Forums Australia - C55F7AAB-C7D7-4920-9935-0F8E6A8581CB.jpeg

I had a look at it this morning. No movement from the lift rod at all. So I played around with the release plunger, to make sure it wasn’t sticking in the release position, seems ok. Next I pulled the pumping plunger to check the seals on that , seems ok but still no movement from the lift rod. I pull the check valve out, ball and spring look ok. I stick a bit of rag down the check valve hole and twist it in with a screwdriver in an attempt to clean any shit off the check valve seat. I put it back together, pump it up and the lift rod moves, yahfuckinghoo I’m saying to myself. Then I put some pressure on the rod with my hand and the rod goes back in. The piece of shit won’t hold any weight.
I’m thinking the check valve seat is cactus.. I’m also thinking fuck you repco and your only 2 years old fucking shitty bike lift, I’m tossing the cunt in the bin, I can’t be fucked fucking around with this shit... cause now I’ve got a bore pump with a blown hose :/
