I’ve always wanted to change the rims on my bike and recently seen some pics of sportys with 21” front wheel, now for the technical guys ,Will I have to remove the front guard and fork brace and have something made to rebrace the forks and how would it affect the handling of the bike.I was looking at the fat straight spiked wheels.

I ran 21" front wheel for years & mate bought the bike still runing 21".
    that looks good perfect stance!
well I'm not positive on the Gard & the brace. but I would not mind betting you could get them both to fit. as in old day's a mate had a EVO heritage softail, it had spoke 16" front wheel & Gard . he just laced on a 21" rim & fitted a tyre it went under the stock heritage Gard ok. but can run with no Gard I have, but get spray come up in your face if hit water.
post pic's when you do it.

I do want to keep the guard,I ran it without for a while but the function far outweighed the look of not having one.Hopfully in about a month I’ll post some pics .

I recently changed out the stock alloy 19" to a spoke 21" on my 2008 Xl883.

Still left plenty of clearance under the front guard there was no fitment issues, in fact I had the workshop lower the guard as a much as they could closer to the tyre there was still so much room left.  The rolling diameter doesn't end up being a huge difference...

This photo is before I had the guard lowered to sit closer to the tyre:

    Hope this helps!

    hi
when changing to a bigger rim, do you need to do something on the fork at all?
