    Gday
Im thinking of putting in some longer tubes in my sporty, maybe 4-6" over but I don't want to sacrifice low speed turning and other handling aspects
this means adjusting the rake to match
The only problem is I don't know how much rake per inch over stock etc.
I've done quite a bit of research and I can't find any good info
Any gurus here able to offer some insight?
On a related note what would be involved in putting on a springer front end? Is it bolt on or are there other adaptions I have to make?

Have you looked at (googled up) “rb racing rake and trail calculator” good info there.

If you want a springer, have a look at bikesales as there's a 1988 low mileage softail springer for 12k. Hideous custom paint job on it but a collectable bike and easy to paint it back to factory colour

Just added 4" to my '05 Sporty.
Rides even better in the twisties now.
    (10w Penrite oil, progressive springs.)

I reckon 6" would be too much though, without further adjustments, eg rake. But that makes it less of a 'mountain' bike.

You can get aftermarket springers that would be a straight bolt on, might just need to add a steering stop. Check out Meatballs Springers, they're the closest thing to a Harley springer and come in a range of lengths.
