I see that BMW have just introduced their new 1250 motor in the GS , its a very trick bit of gear with variable cam timing and every electronic aid you can think of , how the fuck are HD going to go head to head with this with their new adventure bike. They need to jump up not step up to get anywhere near this sort of tech

Ain’t that the truth. Only problem I ever experienced riding a mates GS was that it felt like riding a sewing machine, great engineering but no soul. Bit like the M8’s, not the great engineering, just the no soul :)

My point is that when they do enter the market they need to either compete with the current tech or take a back step to the tech and sell a low tech cheaper bike, cheap and Harley they don't go in the same sentence.

I don’t disagree Pauly but I’m wondering whether HD’s foray into VRod territory (love em but wouldn’t buy one) put them off anything beyond old school push rod technology?

And thats whats confusing with their new direction.....we old buggers are no longer on their radar but the new whiz kids want all the latest aids so why would they expect to join a market full of wizardry without any tricks yourself?

Yeah Pauly, “we old buggers are no longer on their radar“ not on many radars nowadays, I completed a form recently and found my age group was in the last box, might be wishful thinking filling the tank !
