I know there are minimum size of mirrors (8cm2)but is having 1 mirror on RHS only acceptable?

Hey Mr. my belief is RH Mirror on cycle is an aceptable view..Always has been over my 48 years on the road with Motorcycles.... But who am I .
check matey with current onroad crappy rules these days.Think ya cool.

Depends on the State and Year. My QLD-registered 2012 Hogly must have two. Your state's registration mob should have the info you need on their site.

I'm not positive but I think if the bike was produced with two when new then two are required???

In Victoria all road registered motorcycles built after a certain date have to have 2 but ones built before that date can have 1 (but only if they were built that way).
Can't remember the date but it's not recent...

Mr, can't really say, just thinking back to old days, I seen a group of ??? Pomie's, on lamberetta scooters with more mirrors on there scooters, than you would believe!! think they called them Mod's?

Very quick search could not find any in the NSW RMS rules but you need to have 2 for the RMS Pre-Provisional course so you can pretty safely assume you need 2 on the road:

On my Laverda I had a dentist mirror on the right hand side, from, Queensland to SA to WA and back to SA. Never booked.
My view was I didn"t want to the fuck where I"d been, am looking forward. (Young and a foolish one)
These days ya gotta make sure your Duetch plug is cosher.

I found the relevant VicRoads document (NB this only applies to Victoria and you might still get booked in other states if their rules are different).
Basically 2 mirrors must be fitted to any motorcycle or moped manufactured after June 1975.

I have been riding in Vic since late 70's, have always taken left mirror off my bikes, been pulled over heaps of times and nothing has ever been said about only having 1 mirror.

I've been riding with non-standard pipes most of the time since then and I've never been booked or even talked to about them, doesn't mean their legal (or 1 mirror on later bikes is legal).

Personally, am quite happy having two mirrors - gives me a more complete picture of the maniacs in cars behind trying to kill me.
Why would you only want one mirror?

Used to do the 2sec head turn to be sure.
Have two mirror"s on my ride due to asthetics, balance.
But, if had a custom would consider options to flow.

mirrors never stopped me from turning to look .

mirros , lights on , indicators , high vis , loud pipes , helmets = nothing stops some one from running into you
thye always say " I didnt see the bike"

I tried to find an old pic of a hells angel or sim . a dude on his bike with a mirror in the centre of his bars , obviously the only image will be of himself but its a comment to law requirement of a mirror .
it was only in the last 2 weeks that I saw the pic

exactly. horses for courses. don’t on my rk but only have one on my deluxe. much cleaner look especially with the apes.

Two mirrors for me, but that's for a more balanced look,twin disks twin headlights. Have had bikes with one,would not matter how many I had, I still turn my head and look.
