Ive been recieving parcels no worries then this comes along . Ive got parts before through the yrs with no problems , parts covered in shit n oil . this new post usa set up , they cut open all the parcels .  
maybe because it has sharp edges ? maybe because of a film of cosmoline ?  they let plenty of undesirables take a seat on the plane .

At a guess I'd say maybe something to do with asbestos in the clutch plates, I believe that is a new target with older vehicles etc coming into the country.

no plates , its the chain sprocket .
pretty much all engine parts have a coating of some sort against rust . tonnes of parts will be passing straight under their noses

My neighbor brings in Subaru front cuts and they were recently pinged for all things......exhaust gaskets! Cost them shit loads to clear customs and pay the fine

turns out they reakon the part is covered in "grease" and is a hazzard

its got a film of cosmoline that has migrated over 77 yrs to one side .
they wanted Material Safety Data Sheet from manufacturer and copy of merchant

I sent copy of usa military pdf for cosmoline and sprocket part number . manufacturer and production date = 1941 indian mc co
cosmoline has shelf life of 5 yr according to makers
I also mentioned Ive bought parts thru the post via their service and they were coated too .

all auto parts have a protective film on them 

this stuff is as old as the hills , any volatile stuff has evaporated before the majority of us were born ......

Instead of Coke and shit, Boarder Patrol will be looking for Mr.Fred Gaskets parts, imported on Yachets...
