we just paid off our house.....waiting quietly for the banks to come and throw money at us,dont really need any at the moment...just enjoying being debt free and am happy with what i have.

I don’t understand the bank bashing, if they approve finance and credit limits they get bashed, if they don’t approve finance or credit they get bashed. I hear people grizzling that the fucking bank wouldn’t give them a loan, give it to them and they bitch about paying it back.
How about we close all banks, cancel all lines of credit, yihar, no more bank issues, just sit back and watch the country crumble.

Currently, have 1 tenth of fuck all, BUT have accsess to borrow fuckin shitloads........... Ummm good sugestion, do they have Harley dealers in Azabajan?

congrats to brucefxdl , thats a major achievement .

look up "Usury" in the dictionary , bank system can only operate if people are in debt .
money can only be lent to people who havent got it . if a country prospers then the banking system cant lend . theres no government or bank on the planet who wants prosperity .
the other thread mentions Foriegn aid at the same time the gov is borrowing money under everyones name .
gov doesnt have control of the population if it hasnt got people by the balls .
if everyone was debt free itd be like trying to herd cats

so back to first coment , congrats to Brucefxdl for getting outta debt . hats off to ya .

Brucefxdl may have outsmarted himself. My Acccountant told me to NEVER pay off your mortgage, to leave say, $1-2K owing. He showed me that the other account charge reductions tied the the mortgage-holding easily outstrip the interest payments and account charges on the original mortgage.
Good effort though Bruce. I paid everything out when I left the ex, got rid of her AND the Bank! Winning!

thanks friday....wasnt a big/expensive house.......might free up for another bike ,an old brit would be good.

Your accountant is a very wise man, the cheapest legitimate loan you will ever have will be your home loan so if you own your home out right then any further loans you take will be personal loans at a much higher interest rate. Should you payoff your home loan to a few thousand dollars your able to redraw against the equity in the home and it simply increases the amount owing but at the lower home loan rate. Further more if you had a 100% offset account attached to the home loan if you put the equivalent amount into that account your essentially paying nothing in interest on the remaining balance. Needless to say your home should not be your own ATM machine as you still have to repay the balance at some stage. Regardless its a solid effort to own your home so well done Bruce.

when you pay off the house loan you can still have the deeds left at the bank anyway, just don't pay for them,
it also makes it easier for you to get the next loan or morgage

Loopie the house deeds are not a required anymore as land titles office has a register of the owners details.
