The big picture

I think it looks good, overall and for what it is.
I just wish the battery wasn’t so boxy and exposed. I like what Zero did with their bikes.

Harley are known for large and physically imposing bikes that nevertheless hide their bulk well. This looks like a small bike “wrapped around” a big box, almost like a cargo container.

I think a larger “fuel tank” and then maybe filling in the spaces between the two parts of the frame/fairing to the rear would work wonders, provided that don’t look too “plasticky”. This already looks quite cheap by Harley standards - lots of what appears to be dull plastic. Even the “oil pan” looks suspiciously like plastic painted to look like chrome.

As it stands, it has the bulk but not the finness of the traditional models. And I don’t mean that all new bikes from Harley should look like they came from 1936; I just mean that to me, Harley tend to make very visually pleasing bikes that look well made and it is drifting away from that a bit. The adventure bike is a total shocker, for instance - at least, to my eyes. I appreciate that not everyone will agree.

I was reading somewhere that they will be released to certain markets first.
Given what happened to Zero, I’m not sure that we will be on top of that list. They quit us, twice!

This is also an interesting read.

With luck, Harley will turn this around. Only way to do that is sell them at the right price and make sure they are amazing machines. You know the saying - you can have quality, speed and price but only ever two of them at once.

If we get this early, I expect it will either be an eye watering price or cheap plastic wrapped around a battery.

Fingers crossed; if this is awesome and under or at $20k, I’m in.

    Awesome start, if that’s right.
Still, we need one every few kilometres, and it’s  a big country!

Countries like Norway and Sweden are absolutely flogging the rest of the world at this game.

Note, by “flogging” I mean 2% of the cars there are electric!!

Anyway, any idiot can see that in the next 20 years you’ll need a weekend slip to ride or drive your petrol powered vehicle and electric will be the norm. It’s just that right now, we are firmly behind in this game and I doubt we will be rewarded by delivery of new electric vehicles by companies eager to enter the market.

The article inspires confidence. It all sounds promising.
Shame that the prototype looks better than the final version (to me, anyway). It hides the battery better.

Ha - doubt it. But the “old” ones don’t either!

The Livewire will be eye wateringly expensive I suspect.

I really hope you're wrong man , but you're probably right I get that.
Around 20K would be where I'm at but I think you're going to be right.

It probably will be like alot off new technology, very expensive to begin with and then get cheaper as thr R&D costs are recouped. Hope so anyhow, not that I plan on getting one any time soon.
    Cheers
