Hey all, can I ask a small favour of someone with a fat bob, or fat bob bars?
I’m away from my bike as I work away in the desert (Moomba) and am wanting to machine some spacers while I’m here to bring my bars up a bit.
Could someone possibly measure the diameter of the stock black risers at the base where they flare out a bit?

Pic below is what I am trying to achieve!
    Thanks in advance!!

I have a set off the bike so easy to measure at the flare, they are 41mm or 1.6 inches, so that’s with the powder coating thickness whatever that may be , cheers

Hi Al, I was taking some measurements of the risers and noticed that one is 41mm at the base, the other is 40mm, so I assume the black coating must be inconsistent. Thoughts I should let you know. Cheers

Hi guys, I just happens upon this thread and thought it would be a good place to ask my question. I have a stock Streetbob with forward controls and was thinking about changing bars and risers to a stock fat bob . Are fat bob bars comfy? I am 175cm tall
    TIA

David, I find them quite comfortable! I would prefer the street bob bars for looks though! Do you not like them?
I have forward controls on my Super glide and am 178 tall

Thanks Cruiser Al, - I don't mind the stock Streetbob bars/riser, but it puts a lot of weight on your hands at higher speeds and they become less comfortable. I was considering T bars ?? ... What height are the stock fat bob risers?  I have heard That they are anything between 4 - 6 inches depending on where you look or who you ask...

I believe they are 4-1/2” but am away from my bike so I can’t be certain, though that does seem about right from memory.

Dave, the Fatbob and Wideglide risers are the same. Fatbobs run a flat bent back bar and Widies run a raised bent back bar if that makes sense. The risers are considered to be 5 inch but that’s measuring the riser from top to bottom (not including the top half) and does not take into account the half round cut out that the handle bar sits in. So from their base sitting on the triple tree to the bottom of the curve which the bars sit in they measure 111mm or 4.37 inches. Hope that helps.

I have one Fatty with apehangers and one fatty getting tall risers/MX bars.
Those are Wideglide bars/risers in the bottom pic (you can rotate these to get a bit more height)

    Best of both worlds

    Haha, yep!
Well, I’ve machined up a pair of 40mm tall x 38mm diameter (convenient and rather high grade stainless steel) bushes and have given them a coat of gloss black! Will have to wait until Friday when I get home to see how they go!

I fitted the same wideglide bars  as Steve, but it still wasn't enough, tried the same idea off a packer, but I needed it moved back as well as up, ended up with HD curved 6 inch risers. Not cheap but did the job perfectly. Hope you had some 7/16 x 14 tpi bolts 40 mm longer than stock laying about too ??
    Cheers

Not laying around, but I’ll just head over to Coventry fasteners to get what I need! So the boots are 7/16”? I was reading 1/2” but being away from my bike makes confirmation difficult!

Thanks mate. Yeah those ones. They have a hole in the risers to run the wiring through?
I can grab a set of those second hand a lot cheaper than a set of hardcase ones.
