And all modern touring riders worry about is keeping their heated grips warm or getting a Motel room for the night.

Thanks KK. That is a really good story. People have got guts if they want to go and do... amazing.

    Thank's Mick!
these day's we have a lot of high tech in our new bike's & that's great!! we have little camera's & mobile phones that know more about us & can do more tricks than a pack of monkeys in a tree with vines. and that's amazing. we have drones that can do some fantastic footage. so we can show the world.
but I was riding a kick start only shovel that also covered the quarter mile in 11's & had a 21" front wheel, I road that old shovel 1 million km & a mate still riding it any where but he uses a mobile phone and ..... ( shame ) has a button to start it. LOL
well I thought I was good back then, but Dave Barr came along no mobile phone no drone no film crew, just road that old Harley around the world on his own and as not many or no video's I know of no one knows. he is a better man that me!! ( just younger LOL )
cheers hey that sporty putting a big smile on my face!! only ridden 2,300 km so far but rigid mount motor no counter balance but balanced trued Flywheels & flat top pistons and you can look into a clear mirror reving it, so I love it!! but shame no kick starter.

So true Bob, read that story they had to unpack the bike one of them would ride it flat out jump a small river into a sand bank then work hard to get it through the sand . they also bartered with Wild NT trips beeds & tobacco for boomerangs. good story even had to weld the frame up ( brand new Harley no 24 hour road side help not mobile, had to cut wires & wait for PMG repair crew to show up lol

I know that the modern world is making us soft, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this guys modern day adventure because it’s a reminder that getting out there, getting out of the comfort zone, it’s all just outside the garage door :-)

Might have been busy needed to get back quick.
I think was more interested in making a movie of the ride up, for exposure. good on him.

Never heard of Dave Barr either Baloffski (the story sounds a bit monty pythonesque) but here it is

Dave Barr also set a record time for the NEWS (Northernmost, Easternmost, Westernmost, Southernmost points of Australia) run on a Sportster 883. He's also in the movie "Why We Ride".

that record on the 883 sporty was across Siberia in middle of winter and Harley gave the new sporty to Dave to attempt  it, the bike had a sidecar fitted. I remember that. but he might have came here with it too.

They sound pretty cool. I reckon I’ll have to bite the bullet soon. It means less bike parts though :-(

Really enjoyed that. Thanks for posting Adrian. Good advertisement for the NT. That footage in the water was sensational. Music, editing narration good.
Why did he do it? He was depressed.  That's why we ride.
