Friday - Not the best day to begin a ride heading west from Geelong . Temps over 40 , strong gusty NE moving to NW winds . Possible thunderstorms and dry lightning in the afternoon in western Victoria . Hope he goes well. I do enjoy the videos. Thanks for putting them up !

looks like he's all set[ will be long gone at this time of the day].i can relate to his passion and cause which he is pumping so hard. i have known 6, i think 7 people ...some well known to me and a couple of  very close mates ,end there lives...and i never saw a single sign.not sure wether they were clever or very determined, but they succeeded. life is shit when people get to that stage in life. i wish him well on his massive adventure and hope he travels and returns safe.

    Second those thoughts Bruce.
The bloke is going to need a great deal of fortitude , and whats the word peoples are chucking around left right and centre, the old 'in' word- resilience, maybe a tad of that as well, and shit loads of water, from memory. Plus, may he be blessed with a good fucken tail wind on the way home.
Go man, my moneys on you.

Well done EW. Was wondering if he'd go to any of the local HD dealers. Was there a good crowd at Fearless?

Kris78 I can't see how inviting the MDB to Harley Dealerships on a Honda 125 ( 7.5 cubic inch ) is going to do anything for Harley sales. he would do more good visiting group's of people with depression . Personally I liked his pet Pig & his dogs more than the toy Honda. I think I'll get depression watching him travel on that.

i dunno mate i dont think its such a bad idea at all .. maybe it is a honda but its been modified and tuned by harley dealership .. kind of ironical that harley davidson dealership have done so much to assist him .. and honda have done fk all : ) .. i for one think its a great idea for him to rock up at the perth harley shop.
remember the idea of the trip is to be difficult and hard on him .. would be easy on a harley would it not ?

Well that's true, but the guy's at Gelong HD a rare breed. most Honda dealers I would expect just sell & service stock bikes & would not get many customers like MDB, but the boys at G HD, put him in line when he starts carrying on. still they did a lot for him & there are Harley dealers that also own Honda & other brand dealer ships out there.
& if he has ridden that .... bike to Perth then yeh I can see that's a good idea, is he taking that little pig as company?

I wonder if MDB approached Honda about the adventure riding a Monkey Bike to Perth and back for fund raising.

You would think Honda would have pitched in, if not Honda Australia should be ashamed of them selves.

I was disappointed on the reception he got when upstairs to get some riding gear and not even a full tank of fuel, gee its only a couple of Ltrs.

Credit to GHD, they have done a great job helping MDB out supporting the cause.

I can reliably tell you that the manufacturers will not enter into sponsorship deals without prior submissions. Honda Australia is now fully owned by Honda Japan and NOTHING gets past them without prior approval...NOTHING. Individual dealers can do whatever they want in terms of sponsorship etc but Honda will not endorse non sanctioned events. Just think of this for a brief moment........should Honda give/sponsor a monkey bike and said bike and rider are injured or worse still killed , who do you think may well be held partly to blame.....the rider, perhaps, the bike, perhaps or a combination. Regardless of the great cause involved we sadly now have to look beyond a gesture of goodwill to see where things may lay in a worse case scenario.
Lastly in relation to Honda and assistance......we where a leading production bike contender in the 1980s finishing 2nd in 1981 (suzuki) in Castrol 6hr race as well as several top 5 pole position shootouts. We were a multi franchise shop and the biggest Honda dealer in Australia at the time and we still had to pay normal price for our race bikes when we switched to Honda CB1100r in 1982 in an effort to win the event , we even had to pay dealer price for the spares.
