Hey guys, I'm about to put my Breakout on a dyno tomorrow for a power run. I bought it with a stage 1 kit on it. I'm looking to upgrade to a stage 3 or 4 but I've never actually seen a dynograph of what kinda torque or horsepower it has already. Im sure the service guy said it would have been on the dyno when they did the pipe, intake and tuner. Has anyone out there put a M8 114 with a stage 1 on the dyno? Im interested to see what kinda numbers they got and if they are much different from a stock 114.
Also wondering if anyone can recommend an  dynotune joint in Brisbane independent of the HD dealers and what kinda charges I'd be looking at.

    TIA

Go see Fred at Pro Cycles slacks creek. Your not going to get a huge power difference on a stg 1 kit over a std bike. Once you get into cams decent pipe etc you will need a custom map and your going to feel the giddy up then. Around $700-$1000 for a custom dyno tune. Takes around 4hrs for the wk

Went and saw him today. I'd just had a power run on the dyno @ GA before I went to Pro Cycles so I took him the dynograph. He said the numbers were OK, 87.62 hp and 113.43 ft lb torque. He said he could improve them a bit on the dyno with my race tuner. Ive just ordered a Stage 4 kit so I'll get the dealer to install it and then give it to Fred to work his magic. Riding it home today I got a chance to open it up a bit. M8 114's are an awesome motor. I can't wait to see how its gonna feel stretched out.

Your in good hands with Fred. Save your $ and get the good tune on the new motor.

I haven't even spoken $ with him yet. I know how much the dealer was going to charge me. He tunes the bikes for the dealer who is doing my upgrade. I could have let them bring it up to him but I wanted to deal with him myself after so many recommendations.

Does that include a license for the SERT/PV or whatever they want to use?

Yeah you are undercharging mate! 30mins in the cell gives me the shits, let alone 5-6 hours.

The forum cop is onto me oh no lol.....Well, the name didn’t ring any bells my end man, but if you’re listening Lushy no disrespect intended.....still.... .....plenty of tuners around, few deliver results first time every time like Fred does.
As for a grand for tuning a Harley, Fred charges $599 to tune a Harley with a SE tuner box. It’s all on his website.

Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum Moulis! Take care man ride safe.

all good advice here, Moulis what your feeling when you open her up to test, is the 113ft pound ( not NM  ) of Torque, not the HP.
I don't take dyno results serious . until I take the bike to the long black dyno, so check out when Willowbank have a street meeting, you don't have to flog your bike or do big burnouts. just ride as you would off the lights, but hold it wide open in speed traps ( that is after finish line ) get your trap speed, that tell's you how much HP. then go to Fred get your tune take it back to the track, but show Fred your time ticket with trap speed, let him know your going back to check what speed you can get to after the dyno. the drag strip only way to really check, a bike from HH in Sydneys Blacktown shop, I think it was a 124 cubic inch M8 did quarter mile in 10.7 and the speed was 127mph that would indicate about 125HP so not too bad, would have very strong tQ as was doing the 60ft in about 1.6 ig I remember right. but for you, forget the ET & forget the 60ft, just look at trap speed, as if Fred gives you a lot mor HP you will have a much higher trap speed. if you don't go back with the two time slips show him.
    And Welcome to the forum.

also there is no speed limit at Willowbank!!!

Yes officer, thank you officer. I’ll try to remember to mention everything relevant next time officer....
.....a stage 4 is still not a “performance” engine in Fred’s eyes. A stage 4 tune is still $599. That’s what OP is taking to Fred.....

There are Bikes with turbos and god knows what else in there......they cost more to tune.

Can I offer you a suggestion for a change? Maybe if you quote workshop prices know what you’re talking about especially if you’re gunna jump over others.

Dan, I'm still a carb bike owner but love EFI.
What need to point out is it's not just a Dyno charge or a stage, some bikes due to owners choice of parts, like pipes & so on. it can take a lot longer to tune. I've seen bikes that took day's to tune not 4 hours they where 8 hour days. It boils down to what you want.
like me with the carb bike it has never been on a Dyno yet and is running sweet. but it will get it's HP test this year, if not fast enough in speed traps, will use dyno to check AFR see if a carb problem. some carbs hard to get perfect AFR up high as well as down low, but other carb's more able to tune. my bike runing beautiful idles beautiful ( slow ) so in the end it's perfect for the street. But I like going to the drag strip once in a while & like my bike to perform. I can't get excited over a dyno result. ( I know I'm not right ) cheers

Good luck with it Krash.....if your bike is delivering good performance and you’re happy I can understand you not feeling the need for a Dyno.....still, every bike will benefit even marginally from a precise tune. I dunno where you live, and not withstanding all the other tuners around the place that we all need be mindful of lol, Fred is a good choice for Brisbane folks, and he will tune any carb bike too. Can’t see any stage 4 Harley taking him longer than a half day though, regardless of pipes etc. And his charge will be $599 using a SE/TTS tuning box......keep us updated on your drag prowess man that sounds like fun.

Thanks heaps for all the input guys. I don't know if I mentioned it earlier but the stock 114 demo model I rode in the test ride had me grinning from ear to ear. I only took it out for about 15 minutes. I was happy with everything about it except for the sound of it (or lack of) with the stock pipes. The Breakout I was looking at had the Heavy Breather, Vance and Hines and tuner on it already. To me, it is an awesome bike as is but I'm curious to see what they are capable of with the stage kits.
I'm by no means a hugely experienced road rider and on the rides I have been on am only just really opening it up where I feel comfortable. Not throwing it into the twisties scraping the pegs. I hadn't really thought of taking it to Willowbank but I am now. :). My main reason for putting it on the Dyno was to see if there was much difference between stock 114 numbers and stage 1 numbers, also so I had some comparisons for after I got the stage 4 kit done. I also wanted to vlog the whole process. I knew the bike was gonna come back tuned with my tuner from the dealer but I wanted an independent dyno tune. Fred has got so many good reviews on all the forums and social media. After meeting and discussing what I wanted I'm happy to let him tune it.

Dan I've used some good dyne's in the past, I used to , dyno tune my twin cam carb Dyna, when I was drag racing in SE Harley's, but the set up and tune I have is working great, so will take to long black dyno, see what trap speeds are like, if not fast enough, then will put on dyno to check & if needed tune. but feels great as is.

I know Fred very well and like him am not easily offended, hell my son flew to Qld and did some work experience with Freddo, Looks like he charges about the same as me. Folk do get hung up on numbers, the bike needs to run well. The easiest part of the whole mapping process is to get the WOT line on the map right, gets a good dyno graph, but as others have alluded to, it is not the be all and end all. One thing I have learned in over 22 years of dyno-tuning is remember to tune the BIKE not the dyno. Tune the bike to run how it should using your dyno/tools/data gathering, THEN measure the numbers. Surely a grand would have to include a PV license or some such.
