just wondering how long ( how many k ) the sporty tyres normally last?
my big twins was about 15,000k on rears & front lasted a long time. my sporty's rear tyre was warn out at 6,000 ( got new tyres in Cairns when I bought the bike ) now at 17,000k the front one warn out, both metzeler & v rated) I put a Avon H rated on rear about 11,000k ago looking ok, so will replace front with another Avon H rated.

On my wideglide I get about 6-7000k's out of the Night Dragons, I got a couple more thousand out of the Metzler ME888's but they cost about $80 per set extra and the n/dragons seem to stick and handle better, can't find Avon's in 180/60 -17 (for rear)

will have a look at night dragons.

Krash, I will point out that I tried a Night Dragon rear, and had no traction with a hard launch, or under heavy throttle use in low gears.
I thought it may have been due to being old stock, but I've since heard others complain as well.

This is on a higher HP bike than average, but if you want to run at the strip, you may not be happy. Just an FYI , others seem happy.
I'm currently running a sports touring compound Dunlop, and dont care about tyre life, and found zero traction loss so far.

    thanks for that Speedster!!
at Sydney dragway they usually have traction compound sprayed on the track for big events so if go the Thursday night after traction still good. but still want a good set that grip for out of corners.

thanks all interesting, I always liked Avon if I needed stick I used the lowest number AM as the lower the number the softer but wear quick think was AM18, Daddyracer56 got me some Bridstones for my Buell as they sponsored him when he raced Buell & Sportsters & the bridgstone stuck well on my Buell, got a flat and all I could get was Dunnies & they where good.
    so thanks all

I've got 24k on my front Slim S stock tyre. Got 16k out of the first back one, then about 5k on the second due to the rubber suddenly flying off one night at a bike show (not sure how that happened). From what I see the Slim tyres should get roughly 16-20k depending on how ham fisted you are.
Wife's Low S gets about 18-20 at the front and roughly 20 at the back.

that's mean mileage, what brand tyre(s)? what brand delaminated?

They didn't "delaminate" as such. Might have been a burnout in there somewhere.
I'd have to look tonight, but pretty sure it's the stock brand as the tread hasn't changed. I have gone wider than stock and am pretty sure it's a 160 on the back of the slim.

The Low S tyres are also stock brand.

About 24,000 on standard Michelins on a 1200.
Have been riding lately with the Mrs & she's on P's so taking it easy.
Strangely the front wore about the same rate as rear so assuming it was a softer compound.

Happy with the result so replaced with the same tyres.

that's excellent! I think the sporty's wear front tyre a bit quicker than big twin, think might be geometry of the sporty, they handle great!

Good idea me too. I rip fronts up long before the rears are gone (lots of mountain passes and brake dragging into turns)
For tourers try Michelin's Commander Sport Heavy Duty tyres for the K1600, they work great on tourers.

Im relativity new the the cruiser scene still on my first set of tyres on an 2016 Low Rider, but Im really surprised at the tire life. I only have 5000kms on the bike but they are no where near showing any signs of wear. On my other bikes Ive had, sport tourer's and currently have a VFR 800 Im lucky to get 6-8000kms out of a set of multi compound tyres. I was expecting to get less due to the weight of the HD, however the standard Dunlops dont give me a great deal of confidence especially in the wet. My next set will be as soft and grippy as possible, dont really care if they only last 10000kms, a set of tyres is cheap if it stops me from having a slide in the wet.
What are the best gripping tryes in the wet from peoples experience.

Ive been using Avons for donkeys , Trumps , BSAs HDs and get great wear  life, 12-13thousand clicks but they just feel like nothing else ive tried in 50 years of riding, i dont care about price, even wear, they just fall into corners and hang on likeshite to a blanket. Using them now on Heritage and makes the ride smooooooooth??
